Grounds Supervisor

Role Overview

Grounds Supervisor at Marriott. The role is based on-site at a Marriott property location.

Role Purpose

Oversee grounds maintenance and landscaping operations, managing tools, equipment, supplies, and staff to maintain property standards while ensuring safety, quality, and guest satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

Grounds Maintenance & Operations

• Conduct inventory of tools, equipment, and materials.
• Place orders for plants, new and replacement equipment, and supplies within budget.
• Record water usages from pumps and wells.
• Perform minor repairs to structures using hand and power tools.
• Mix, prepare, and apply chemical solutions to control pests, weeds, and plant disease.
• Keep records of fertilizer and pesticide applications.
• Install, maintain, and operate irrigation systems.
• Operate tractors, trucks, and utility vehicles to transport equipment and supplies.
• Visually inspect tools, equipment, and machines to identify defects.
• Remove snow and maintain ice management as applicable.

Staff Leadership & Development

• Assist management in hiring, training, scheduling, evaluating, counseling, disciplining, and motivating and coaching employees.
• Serve as a role model.
• Develop and maintain positive working relationships with others.
• Support team to reach common goals.
• Listen and respond appropriately to concerns of other employees.

Safety, Compliance & Standards

• Follow all company, safety, and security policies and procedures.
• Report defective equipment, accidents, injuries, and unsafe work conditions to manager.
• Complete safety training and certifications.
• Protect company assets.
• Ensure adherence to quality expectations and standards.

Guest & Stakeholder Engagement

• Anticipate and address guests' service needs.
• Assist individuals with disabilities.
• Speak with others using clear and professional language.
• Prepare and review written documents accurately and completely.

Additional Duties

• Perform other reasonable job duties as requested by Supervisors.

Qualifications & Experience

• High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
• At least 3 years of related grounds maintenance work experience.
• At least 3 years of supervisory experience.
• Valid Driver's License.

Skills & Competencies

• Equipment and machinery operation (tractors, trucks, utility vehicles).
• Hand and power tool proficiency.
• Chemical application and pest control knowledge.
• Irrigation system installation and maintenance.
• Inventory and record management.
• Ability to stand, sit, or walk for extended periods or entire work shifts.
• Ability to move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing up to 50 pounds without assistance.
• Fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination.
• Ability to move over sloping, uneven, or slippery surfaces and up and down ladders.
• Ability to reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping.
• Manual dexterity and gross motor skills with frequent bi-manual dexterity and fine motor skills.
