Role Overview
Graduate Quality Engineer position at AtkinsRéalis. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring construction activities comply with project specifications, quality standards, and safety regulations.

Role Purpose
Monitor and evaluate quality assurance aspects of contract performance in design, manufacturing, and installation activities. Ensure contractor and supplier compliance with contractual specifications and recommend improvements to quality assurance program plans.
Key Responsibilities
Quality Assurance & Compliance
- Understand the basics of Request for Proposal (RFP) and Invitation for Bid (IFB) contracts as well as principles, practices, standards, and procedures of quality assurance.
- Participate in the implementation and maintenance of quality assurance plans and programs.
- Monitor quality assurance aspects of contract performance in design, manufacturing, and installation activities.
- Monitor and evaluate quality assurance elements of assigned projects.
- Evaluate contractor and supplier compliance with contractual specification requirements.
- Evaluate effectiveness of contractor's quality assurance program plan and recommend improvements.
- Research and recommend acceptance of submitted materials and equipment.
- Create standards of performance and inspection systems.
- Establish quality assurance testing models for analysis of raw materials, materials in process, and finished products.
Inspections & Documentation
- Conduct and document inspections, including Release for Shipment (RFS), Installation Verification (IV), and First Article/First Article Configuration (FAI/FACI).
- Read and interpret plans, drawings, specifications, standards and procedures.
- Review documents to ensure contract compliance, the use of proper methods, and compatibility with other systems.
- Verify completion and quality of work.
- Record findings and maintain accurate logs, files and other documentation including photos.
- Produce quality reports associated with work activities and audits.

Audits & Corrective Action
- Lead and document audits and surveys of contractor and supplier quality system.
- Perform quality system audits and implement necessary action plans to correct or improve quality deficiencies.
- Approve and verify implementation of necessary action plans to correct, improve and prevent quality deficiencies.
Stakeholder Engagement & Communication
- Attend and participate in project meetings and stay abreast of quality requirements, issues and concerns, and scheduling.
- Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
- Prepare clear and concise reports, correspondence, and technical documents.
- Facilitate quality awareness with internal customers by providing information and education of methods for identifying and improving quality.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
Development & Administration
- Assist in developing special quality assurance training content.
- Work independently in the absence of supervision.
- Know principles of business writing and basic report preparation.
- Write properly constructed sentences, use punctuation, and correct grammar effectively.
- Understand and follow oral and written instructions.
- Be familiar with safe work practices and procedures.
- Be proficient on using current office equipment including copiers and computers, and supporting word processing and spreadsheet applications.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering.
- 0-2 years experience performing Quality Assurance work at an advanced level, tasked with roles and responsibilities including but not limited to TQM (Total Quality Management) implementation, DOE (Design of Experiments), and automatic quality regulating system through SPC (Statistical Processing Control).
- Experience preferred in Automatic Train Control, Transit Communications, Transit Vehicle Systems, Elevator and Escalators, Fare Collection, and/or Bus Maintenance contract management.
- Experience with rail transit system and subsystem equipment is preferred.
