Role Overview
Golf Professional - Intern at Viya (wasl Hospitality & Leisure), based at Emirates Golf Club in Dubai. Reports to the Head of Academy within Golf Operations.

Role Purpose
Under the administrative direction of the Head of Academy, this role assists in the efficient management and operation of the two golf courses at Emirates Golf Club, providing professional instruction to junior golfers, members, academy students, and guests enrolling in professional teaching programmes.
Key Responsibilities
Golf Operations Management
- Assist the Head of Operations to efficiently run the Golf Operations Department.
- Develop working knowledge of general golf operations sufficient to deputize for the Head of Operations when required.
- Possess knowledge of the entire club operation and services to ensure accurate information is passed to members and guests.
- Oversee day-to-day running of golf operations and be available for queries concerning golf equipment and the club.
- Assist and aid all staff in the Pro Shop, Membership Services, and Outside Operations within the Golf Department when required.
Coaching & Instruction
- Deliver first-class teaching service across a wide range of clientele in the Club's Golf Academy.
- Deliver first-class coaching across a wide range of clientele in the Club's Golf Academy.
- Provide professional knowledge of standard techniques of playing and teaching golf, golf terminology, and etiquette.
- Provide training, support, and assistance to all Golf Operations staff when requested.
Facility Promotion & Member Services
- Promote Emirates Golf Club, Dubai Creek Golf & Yacht Club, and Jumeirah Golf Estates as top-class golfing facilities at all times.
- Promote these facilities in all events, through competitions, and at external golf events.
- Service the daily needs of all members and guests.
- Promote retail sales through the Club's Pro Shop at all times.
- Upsell all Club services and products at every opportunity.
Golf Activities & Events
- Assist in promoting golfing activities by organizing daily play and tournaments.
- Assist in any other Club events as specified by the Head of Operations.
- Promote various functions within the bylaws and policies of the organization that generate operating revenues and create member interest.
Stakeholder Engagement & Compliance
- Work closely and support all Club Departments to ensure harmonious working relationships.
- Work closely with other officials associated with the facility, allied golf associations, and others who might contribute to improving the facility's function.
- Enforce golf course and facilities rules and regulations firmly, tactfully, and impartially.
- Evaluate market trends in golf-related equipment and sportswear in relation to customers.
- Be updated on current developments in the world of golf and present the facility as a leader in positive innovation.
Quality & Standards
- Comply with standards within the Quality Policy document and Club's Operations Manual.
- Achieve quality goals and comply with the statement of values, including participation in periodic audits and data collections.
- Be actively involved in Club 59 Result and Procedure.
- Be actively involved in ISO Quality Management Certification process as an ISO Auditor, with relevant training provided by the Company.
- Apply the 4 Service Steps throughout serving internal and external customers in alignment with Viya's Mission, Vision, and Values.
Additional Duties & Committees
- Participate in various extra activities contributing to individual and organizational growth in line with the Club's continuous improvement objectives.
- Represent the department or a group in various committees, such as the Staff Committee, Green Theme (environmental), Food Committee, Sport Committee, or projects.
- Train as a Fire Marshall or First Aider as requested.
Information Security
- Read, understand, and comply with all applicable Information Security Policies and Procedures of wasl.
- Cooperate, coordinate, and share information with Internal and External Audit teams as appropriate.
- Attend Information Security Awareness sessions conducted by the wasl IT Department.
- Immediately report all Information Security breaches, events, weaknesses, and incidents (actual or suspected) to the IT Service Desk.
Qualifications & Experience
- PGA Qualified Golf Professional.
- Degree or Diploma from a recognized university.
- Minimum 3 years experience in a similar position.
Skills & Competencies
- Excellent teaching skills and ability to perform a broad range of supervisory responsibilities over others.
- Strong problem-solving ability and analytical skills.
- Excellent customer service skills and interpersonal and communication skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office.
- Flexible availability, including weekends and holidays.
