Role Overview

Geotechnical SME at Wood PLC, serving as Technical Authority across a portfolio of energy, oil & gas, mining, industrial and infrastructure projects in Saudi Arabia.

Role Purpose

Provide specialist expertise in ground engineering and foundation solutions, acting as the highest level of technical authority within the geotechnical discipline to ensure engineering excellence, strengthen technical governance and support the delivery of safe, innovative and high-quality engineering solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Leadership

• Act as the Technical Authority across multiple projects throughout the entire project lifecycle, including proposals, concept studies, FEED, detailed engineering, construction support and commissioning.
• Lead technical reviews during Concept, FEED and Detailed Design phases.
• Perform independent design assurance and peer reviews.
• Resolve complex engineering challenges and provide specialist guidance.

Standards & Governance

• Develop and maintain engineering standards and best practices.
• Establish and maintain technical standards across the portfolio.
• Support technical assurance activities.

Business & Stakeholder Development

• Support proposals, client workshops and business development activities.
• Build trusted relationships with clients and key stakeholders across the region.
• Influence clients and drive technical excellence across major international projects.

Mentoring & Capability

• Mentor engineering teams and develop technical capability.
• Strengthen technical governance through knowledge transfer and team development.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's Degree in a relevant Engineering discipline.
• Minimum 20 years of experience in Oil & Gas, Energy, Petrochemical, Mining or Industrial projects.
• Proven experience as a Technical Authority, Chief Engineer, Principal Consultant, Engineering Fellow or equivalent.
• Chartered Engineer/Professional Engineer status is preferred.

Skills & Competencies

• Expertise in site investigations, settlement, piled foundations and numerical analysis.
• Knowledge of Eurocode and ASTM standards.
• Recognized industry expert with a proven track record of solving complex engineering challenges.
• Strong mentoring and team development capabilities.
