General Practitioner (SEHA Clinics)

Role Overview

General Practitioner at SEHA, operating within SEHA Clinics under the supervision of the Consultant Physician and/or Specialist Physician, sharing responsibility for delivering high quality, evidence-based patient care.

Role Purpose

To examine, diagnose, and treat patients as assigned while supporting the clinical team, maintaining high standards of care, and contributing to continuous quality improvement and professional development.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Duties

• Examine, diagnose, and treat patients as assigned under supervision and with consent of senior physicians.
• Participate in daily ward rounds and reassess inpatients and outpatients as clinically appropriate and as directed by the Consultant and/or Specialist.
• Oversee the organization of tests, chase and record results.
• Accurately document all relevant clinical information in a clear and timely fashion in accordance with established protocols.
• Review results of all investigations and modify treatment in a timely manner with approval of the Consultant or Specialist Physician.
• Supervise and support Interns as determined by the Consultant Physician.
• Liaise with other medical specialties and support services for additional input as required.
• Oversee preparation of patients for procedures and surgery including obtaining informed consent.
• Admit appropriate referrals accepted by the Consultant or Specialist Physician from the Emergency Department, primary care, specialty clinics, walk-in patients, and patients referred from other hospitals.
• Provide out of hours on-call coverage on a rotational basis including evenings, nights, weekends, and public holidays.
• Communicate information to patients and patients' families and friends with patient consent in a timely manner.
• Comply with all hospital policies regarding admissions, consultations, daily patient care, surgical procedures, prescribing and discharge protocols, outpatient and follow-up practices.
• Adhere to established policies regarding patient confidentiality and informed consent.
• Perform other clinical responsibilities as assigned.

Management & Administration

• Understand, support, and adhere to all established initiatives, policies, and procedures.
• Participate in the organization's performance management system, including peer review and productivity and utilization review processes.
• Participate in committees and working groups as requested.
• Assume other administrative duties as requested by senior physicians.

Quality & Safety

• Support quality improvement within the Department according to established policies and procedures.
• Participate in regular clinical audit.

Education & Professional Development

• Actively participate in Continued Medical Education and professional development opportunities.
• Participate in regular teaching sessions and provide teaching for interns and medical students as requested.
• Participate in clinical research activities in the department.
• Keep abreast of current, relevant literature and the latest trends and technologies in the industry.

Stakeholder & Team Management

• Maintain a good working relationship with members of staff and promote collaboration and a team-based approach to patient care.

Qualifications & Experience

Required

For Non UAE Nationals: not less than 2 years relevant experience post internship in Hospital, Primary Health Care, Emergency Room, or equivalent setting.

For UAE Nationals and Non UAE National graduates of UAE medical schools: no additional experience required after successful completion of internship.

Non UAE Nationals accepted into HAAD accredited residency programs through TANSEEQ will not require additional experience after successful completion of internship.
