Fuels Systems Technician

Role Overview

Fuels Systems Technician with Amentum, performing inspection, maintenance, and repair for water and fuels systems across multiple automated equipment platforms.

Role Purpose

Deliver preventive and corrective maintenance support for automated fuel handling and tank management equipment, ensuring reliable operation of fuel distribution systems at military installations and bulk fuel locations.

Key Responsibilities

Inspection, Maintenance & Repair

• Perform inspection, maintenance, and repair for water and fuels systems.
• Perform inspection, maintenance, and repair for fuel systems including Cross-Connection Control.
• Execute Preventive Maintenance (PM) and Corrective Maintenance (CM) support for Automated Fuel Handling Equipment (AFHE), Automated Tank Gauging (ATG), Independent Alarm Systems (IAS), Electronic Leak Detection (ELD), Overfill Protection Equipment (OPE), Hydrant Fueling Automation Maintenance (HFAM), and Automated Fuel Service Station (AFSS) fuel systems.
• Maintain associated communication devices including modem and radio.

Technical Support & Certification

• Provide annual pipeline leak detection certification for installed Hansa and Vista leak detection systems.
• Provide quarterly and periodic leak detection testing and technical support for installed Hansa and Vista leak detection systems.
• Provide certification and technical support for Varec Leak Manager via Fuels Manager Defense (FMD) systems.

Hydrant Systems Expertise

• Oversee hydrant system professionals during replacement, repair, diagnostics, or adjustment of individual components of the Hydrant Fueling System automation.
• Demonstrate capability to understand and translate DoD hydrant system specifications in both verbal and written form.
• Work with Programmable Logic Controller (PLC), various operator interfaces, system parameter transmitters, flow switches, solenoids, motor operators, control valves, and other control devices.

Procedure & Compliance

• Read, understand, and implement general and specific operational, safety, quality, and environmental requirements of all plans, procedures, and policies pertaining to the job.
• Conform to Amentum Quality Policy and carry out job activities in compliance with applicable Amentum Quality System documents and customer contracts.
• Read and understand Quality Management and Customer Satisfaction responsibilities.

Safety & Quality

• Develop and maintain a safe work environment as part of Amentum's safety culture.
• Complete all training requirements and fulfill self-aid/buddy aid responsibilities.
• Participate in emergency response tasks and serve on safety committees and teams as appropriate.

Qualifications & Experience

• Minimum three years' experience in fuels systems.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Military and/or technical training in fuel and/or water systems.
• All personnel must have Cross-Connection Control training.
• ATG Systems technicians must have three years' experience, be knowledgeable, and be certified (as required) within 30 calendar days of Contract Task Order Release Date (CTORD) on ATG systems.
• IAS Technician must have three years' experience, be knowledgeable, and certified (as required).
• ELD Technician must have three years' experience, be knowledgeable, and certified (as required).
• HFAM Technician must have three years' experience in hydrant system automation.
• Contractor personnel must be qualified and/or certified by the manufacturer of ATG, ELD, IAS, OPE, HFAM, and/or AFSS equipment when manufacturer qualification/certification exists.
• Contractor must provide documentation to the Contracting Officer's Representative (COR) to support the qualification/certification of personnel when requested.

Skills & Competencies

• Expert knowledge of Veeder Root TLS Series ATG System (Level 3 Veeder-Root certified).
• Expert knowledge of ENRAF 854 Servo ATG System.
• Expert knowledge of Scully Dynamic Self Check Independent Alarm Systems.
• Expert knowledge of Ronan Continuous Monitoring Systems.
• Proficiency with Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) systems.
• Technical knowledge of system parameter transmitters, flow switches, solenoids, motor operators, and control valves.
• Capable of working with associated software for hydrant and fuel systems.

Additional Information

• Must be able to obtain and maintain a SECRET Clearance.
• US Citizenship is required to obtain a SECRET Clearance.
• Works in a maintenance shop environment.
• Ability to travel domestically and internationally.
• AFSS systems are installed at retail and bulk fuel distribution locations and track fuel transactions and maintenance services for military ground vehicles.
