Role Overview
Foreman - Production at Alghanim Industries. The Foreman is responsible for ensuring smooth operations at the plant and serving as the point of contact between factory workers and supervisors.
Role Purpose
Coordinate daily production activities, supervise shop floor workers, oversee quality and safety standards, manage workforce scheduling and attendance, and report progress to management. The Foreman ensures all work meets customer requirements and company standards while maintaining compliance with quality control and safety protocols.
Key Responsibilities
Supervision & Workforce Management
- Supervise workers on the shop floor.
- Guide welders, fabricators, and helpers according to job requirements.
- Motivate employees for high production while maintaining quality standards to meet customer requirements.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with personnel of other departments.
Production Planning & Scheduling
- Coordinate tasks for the day.
- Create schedules for workers.
- Prepare daily attendance records in the shop floor.
Quality Control & Inspection
- Check the quality of workmanship of welders.
- Forward satisfactory jobs to the quality controller for inspection.
- Route jobs to the next process after quality control approval.
- Check welding procedures and standards.
Tools, Equipment & Materials
- Assist in issuing necessary tools, personal protective equipment, and consumables to welders.
- Develop thorough knowledge of standard tools, equipment, materials, methods, and practices relevant to assigned duties.
Safety & Compliance
- Conduct safety tool meetings every day after lunch break.
- Ensure occupational hazard awareness and implementation of safety precautions for welding and fitting operations.
Systems & Reporting
- Prepare production reports and control man-hour allocation in the shop floor.
- Confirm job completion in SAP.
- Maintain knowledge of SAP production planning module.
- Submit raw material requisitions through SAP.
- Submit consumable requisitions through SAP.
- Confirm production orders through SAP.
- Submit breakdown notifications through SAP.
Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum 4 years of experience.
- Higher School Certificate or Diploma.
- Fluency in Hindi and English (speaking).
- Considerable knowledge of the properties of ferrous and non-ferrous metals encountered in welding tasks.
Skills & Competencies
- Ability to supervise the work of subordinate journeymen and helpers.
- Thorough knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions in welding and fitting.
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
- Ability to work from sketches, diagrams, blueprints, and broken parts.
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely orally and in writing.
- Skill in the use and care of tools and equipment used on work assignments.
