Fitness Instructor

Role Purpose

Instruct group fitness classes and provide personalized fitness guidance to guests, while maintaining a safe, clean, and welcoming recreational environment that supports both individual wellness goals and a relaxed atmosphere.

Key Responsibilities

Instruction & Guest Support

• Instruct group fitness classes including aerobics, spinning, and strength training at all ability levels.
• Provide advice to individuals on correct methods of exercising with fitness equipment.
• Assess individual exercise programs and fitness levels to develop personalized exercise programs.
• Provide fitness counseling to guests.
• Assist individuals with disabilities.
• Welcome and acknowledge all guests according to company standards.
• Anticipate and address guests' service needs.

Facility & Equipment Management

• Clean and maintain recreational areas, equipment, and supplies.
• Visually inspect tools, equipment, and machines to identify defects.
• Call Maintenance or an outside service company if machines require service.

Safety & Emergency Response

• Observe activity in the recreational facility and respond appropriately in accordance with local operating procedures during emergencies.
• Provide assistance to injured guests until the arrival of emergency medical services.
• Report accidents, injuries, and unsafe work conditions to manager.
• Complete safety training and certifications.

• Follow company policies and procedures.
• Maintain a clean and professional uniform and personal appearance.
• Maintain confidentiality of proprietary information.

Physical Demands

• Stand, sit, or walk for extended periods or entire work shifts.
• Move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing up to 50 pounds without assistance and over 75 pounds with assistance.
• Grasp, turn, and manipulate objects of varying size and weight, requiring fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination.
• Move through narrow, confined, or elevated spaces.
• Move over sloping, uneven, or slippery surfaces and up and down stairs or service ramps.
• Reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping.
• Read and visually verify information in a variety of formats, including small print.

Qualifications & Experience

• High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
• Minimum 1 year of related work experience.
• No supervisory experience required.

Skills & Certifications

• CPR Certification.
• First Aid Certification.
• Fitness Equipment certification.
• Fitness Instruction certification.
• Any certification or training required by local and state agencies.
