Field Service Technician-3

Role Overview

Field Service Technician-3 at Flowserve. The role involves installing, commissioning, monitoring, troubleshooting, and repairing Flowserve's pumps, seals, and other equipment across industries including oil and gas, chemical, nuclear, coal, and wastewater, depending on customer engagement.

Role Purpose

Deliver real-time technical support to customers onsite, provide recommendations for repairs, upgrades, and replacement equipment, and actively engage in troubleshooting and implementing solutions at customer facilities. The Field Service Technician team represents the face of Flowserve and is essential to delivering world-class service and creating a lasting competitive advantage.

Key Responsibilities

Customer Service & Support

• Respond directly to customer requests with in-person service calls.
• Provide real-time technical support to customers.
• Work side-by-side with customer personnel and lead work crews as required.
• Train customers in proper procedures for operating and maintaining Flowserve products.
• Deliver world-class service to create lasting competitive advantage for Flowserve products and services.

Equipment Installation & Commissioning

• Ensure equipment is installed successfully and on schedule.
• Check equipment prior to start-up and assess start-up performance.

Troubleshooting & Repair

• Assess mechanical problems and take action to resolve promptly.
• Oversee the full cycle of repair: disassembly, cleaning, inspection, repair, and assembly.
• Monitor the maintenance and performance of Flowserve equipment.

Collaboration & Coordination

• Collaborate effectively with supporting Flowserve organizations, including repair centers, customer service, and sales engineering.

Documentation & Reporting

• Maintain and submit organized, accurate records, including daily reports, jobs quoted, jobs performed, and time and materials charged.

Qualifications & Experience

• High School Diploma or GED.
• 5–7 years of relevant experience.
• Knowledge of industrial applications and operations of pumps, valves, seals, actuators, and mechanical equipment.
• Experience with installing mechanical equipment.
• Experience with repairing pump equipment, installing mechanical seals, and changing seal faces, gaskets, and O-rings.
• Professional certifications in this field (preferred).

Skills & Competencies

• Ability to correctly read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and schematics.
• Proficiency in Outlook, Word, and Excel.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Self-starter with good follow-through, capable of working independently with little supervision.
• Good organizational skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with unfamiliar teams (preferred).
• Ability to communicate by word and actions Flowserve's values for ethics, safety, and quality.

Additional Information

• Active driver's license with good driving record required.
• Able to travel, including globally, for extended periods of time.
• Able to work overtime as required to minimize impact to customers.
• Physical activity required, including frequent lifting up to 50 pounds (25 kg), ascending and descending ladders and staircases, and climbing and reaching in, under, and around large equipment, often outside year-round.
