Role Overview
Field Service Engineer at Emerson, based in Qatar. You will deliver technical support and engineering services for DeltaV Distributed Control Systems (DCS) and Asset Management Solutions (AMS), supporting installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, and maintenance activities while ensuring reliable system performance.
Role Purpose
To serve as a primary technical contact for customers, supporting service contracts and project execution while collaborating with internal teams to enhance operational efficiency, resolve complex technical challenges, and deliver high-quality service outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Customer Support & Service Delivery
- Serve as the primary technical contact for customers, supporting service contracts, system upgrades, and project execution.
- Perform diagnostics, troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and system enhancements.
- Execute on-site services including modifications, cybersecurity assessments, and system evaluations.
Commissioning & Technical Activities
- Lead and support commissioning, start-ups, site surveys, and technical documentation activities.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of system technologies, tools, and industry best practices.
Collaboration & Problem-Solving
- Coordinate with global support teams and engineering experts to resolve complex technical challenges.
- Identify service and product improvement opportunities and share insights with commercial teams.
Team Development
- Mentor and guide junior engineers and technicians to build capability within the team.
Compliance & Safety
- Ensure compliance with safety standards, internal processes, and documentation requirements.
- Adhere to Health, Safety & Environment policies as laid by the organization.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Control Systems, Electrical, Electronics, Instrumentation, or related fields).
- Hands-on experience with DeltaV systems, including configuration, commissioning, and troubleshooting.
- Knowledge of industrial control systems, DCS/PLC programming, and process automation.
- Experience with communication protocols such as OPC, Modbus, and industrial fieldbus technologies.
- Familiarity with installation, loop checking, and instrumentation systems in industrial environments.

Additional Information
Travel & Location
- Ability to perform on-site service activities and travel internationally, approximately 25–40%.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience delivering DeltaV solutions in Oil & Gas or energy sectors, including offshore environments.
- Exposure to cybersecurity solutions within industrial control systems.
- Experience leading projects, coordinating teams, and supporting customer engagement initiatives.
- Knowledge of alarm management, control loop tuning, and operator training simulators.
- Understanding of IT/OT systems, networking, and industrial cybersecurity practices.
- Relevant certifications in automation, safety, or offshore operations.
- Familiarity with Emerson systems, tools, and global service processes.
