Role Overview

Role Purpose

To deliver effective instruction in marketing and general business subjects aligned with course syllabus and program goals, using practical and applied approaches that meet student and community needs. To actively participate in academic and extracurricular events, conduct applied research relevant to the division's interests and national innovation agenda, and support student success within a second language learning environment.

Key Responsibilities

Teaching

• Deliver practical, applied instruction in marketing and business courses aligned with course syllabus and program goals to meet student and community needs.
• Develop and utilize various educational technology resources to ensure effective and innovative instructional methodologies.
• Apply strategies to ensure effective student learning within a second-language environment, providing continuous feedback through tests, projects, assignments and other evaluation instruments.
• Adopt a student-centered approach, providing individual assistance and promptly addressing student issues by liaising with students, program supervisors and College personnel.

Assessment

• Apply strategies to ensure effective student learning and provide continuous feedback on student progress.
• Evaluate students and update grades in a timely manner.
• Contribute to question banks and coursework assessments as requested.
• Invigilate both internal and externally administered assessments as assigned.

Advising

• Serve as student advisor as assigned.
• Provide recommendations on at-risk action plans as required.
• Support and mentor students during internships and work placements.
• Maintain regular office hours to advise and assist students.
• Monitor student progress and take action to support student success.

Research

• Conduct applied research relevant to the faculty's interests and the national innovation agenda and its targeted priority sectors.
• Participate in conferences and mentor student research.

Administration

• Ensure teaching facilities, equipment and supplies are maintained in good working order.
• Prepare electronic Course Assessment Files (eCAF) and Course Assessment Reports (CAR) for taught courses.
• Handle at least one system-wide course in terms of content management, assessment development, course evaluation and review.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of teaching, learning, assessment and quality assurance as per the HCT Program Continuous Improvement Framework.
• Participate in revision of courses and curricula.
• Develop course curriculum aligned with accreditation and international standards.

Strategy & Governance

• Contribute to implementation of HCT's system-wide strategy.
• Assist with development and preservation of system-wide and Faculty/Division-specific policies.
• Serve on Faculty, program, campus and system-wide committees.

Service & Leadership

• Serve as sponsor of or adviser to student groups and activities.
• Serve the industry, community and region.
• Coach and mentor subordinates on a regular basis.
• Contribute effectively and efficiently to recruitment and development of UAE Nationals.
• Support organizational resilience by promoting and communicating resilience practices and procedures, and guiding the development of organizational resilience leaders, individual contributors and teams.
• Participate in academic and extracurricular events at the College and within the community.

General

• Perform any other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.
• Ensure the teaching and learning environment is sensitive to the cultural heritage of HCT students.
• Uphold the HCT Teaching and Learning philosophy.
• Ensure students understand the HCT definition of academic dishonesty, types of academic misconduct behavior, and disciplinary measures and consequences.

Qualifications & Experience

• Ph.D. in a relevant discipline where applicable.
• Or Master's Degree with a professional certification relevant to the discipline, plus 5 years of teaching and industry experience.
• Or Bachelor's Degree with extensive industry experience and industry certification as per discipline requirement.
• Appropriate academic professional qualifications as required.
• Minimum 3 years teaching experience in the relevant discipline.
• Minimum 3 years relevant industry experience preferred.
• Experience incorporating educational technology in curriculum and instructional strategies.

Additional Information

• Full-time position requiring a minimum of 36.5 working hours per week.
• Workdays are normally Monday to Friday, with occasional system-wide assignments on Saturdays (such as FWA exams or MOE exams).
• General teaching workload is 15 credit hours for the Fall semester and 15 credit hours for the Spring semester.
• Student learning outcomes must align with accrediting agency standards where applicable.
