Role Overview
Facilities Engineer at WASL, reporting to the Head of Engineering and Planning, Senior Operations Manager, or Operations Manager within Asset Management Services & Solutions. This is an individual contributor role with no direct reports.
Role Purpose
The Facilities Engineer supports the operation and maintenance of mechanical, electrical, plumbing (MEP), and building systems across the organization's property portfolio. The role ensures facilities are well maintained, energy efficient, and compliant with UAE regulations and organizational standards, working under the guidance of senior engineers to contribute to preventive and corrective maintenance, contractor coordination, and sustainability initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Operations & Maintenance
- Support day-to-day operations and maintenance of MEP and building systems.
- Conduct routine inspections of equipment, systems, and infrastructure.
- Assist in the development and execution of preventive and corrective maintenance schedules.
- Maintain technical records, drawings, and documentation of facilities operations.
Vendor & Contractor Management
- Coordinate with outsourced service providers to ensure quality service delivery.
- Work with service providers to deliver facilities management services.
- Optimize vendor performance to avoid rework and unnecessary expenses.
Compliance & Safety
- Ensure compliance with UAE regulations, HSE standards, and organizational policies.
- Apply UAE regulatory and safety requirements in daily tasks.
Reporting & Documentation
- Prepare inspection reports and escalate technical issues to senior engineers.
- Maintain records of inspections, repairs, and performance.
- Provide technical input to resolve technical issues under supervision.
Sustainability & Efficiency
- Contribute to energy efficiency, water conservation, and sustainability initiatives.
- Contribute to energy-saving and eco-friendly initiatives.
- Support cost efficiency by identifying defects early and ensuring timely maintenance.
Projects & Emergency Response
- Support small-scale projects and upgrades of facility systems.
- Participate in emergency response and incident resolution when required.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, or Facilities Engineering.
- 3–5 years' experience in facilities engineering, maintenance, or construction.
- Knowledge of MEP and building systems maintenance.
- Familiarity with outsourced vendor management.
Desirable
- Master's degree in Engineering, Facilities Management, or related discipline.
- Professional certifications such as PMP, LEED, or CFM.
- Experience with smart building systems and CAFM software.
Skills & Competencies
- Facilities Maintenance: Support preventive and corrective maintenance of MEP and building systems at intermediate level.
- Technical Inspection: Conduct inspections and report maintenance requirements at intermediate level.
- Vendor Coordination: Work with service providers to deliver FM services at intermediate level.
- Compliance & HSE Awareness: Apply UAE regulatory and safety requirements in daily tasks at basic level.
- Sustainability Practices: Contribute to energy-saving and eco-friendly initiatives at basic level.
- Documentation & Reporting: Maintain records of inspections, repairs, and performance at intermediate level.
- Systems & Tools Proficiency: Use CAFM, ERP, and engineering tools for reporting and monitoring at intermediate level.
- Technical Problem Solving: Provide input to resolve technical issues under supervision at intermediate level.
Additional Information
Working Relationships
- Internal: Senior MEP Engineer, Senior Civil/Electrical Engineers, Operations, QA.
- External: FM service providers, contractors, consultants, regulatory authorities.
Decision Authority
- Operates under the supervision of senior engineers.
- Provides technical input but major decisions are escalated.
- No budget authority but contributes to efficient service delivery through inspections and reporting.
