Role Overview
Facilities Engineer at WASL, Real Estate Division, Asset Management Services & Solutions Department. Reports to Head of Engineering and Planning, Senior Operations Manager, or Operations Manager.
Role Purpose
Support the operation and maintenance of mechanical, electrical, plumbing (MEP), and building systems across the organization's property portfolio. Ensure facilities are well maintained, energy efficient, and compliant with UAE regulations and organizational standards through preventive and corrective maintenance, contractor coordination, and sustainability initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Operations & Maintenance
- Support day-to-day operations and maintenance of MEP and building systems.
- Conduct routine inspections of equipment, systems, and infrastructure.
- Assist in the development and execution of preventive and corrective maintenance schedules.
- Maintain technical records, drawings, and documentation of facilities operations.
Contractor & Vendor Management
- Coordinate with outsourced service providers to ensure quality service delivery.
- Work with service providers to deliver facilities management services.
- Optimize vendor performance to avoid rework and unnecessary expenses.
Reporting & Compliance
- Prepare inspection reports and escalate technical issues to senior engineers.
- Ensure compliance with UAE regulations, HSE standards, and organizational policies.
- Maintain records of inspections, repairs, and performance.
Sustainability & Efficiency
- Contribute to energy efficiency, water conservation, and sustainability initiatives.
- Support cost efficiency by identifying defects early and ensuring timely maintenance.
Projects & Emergency Response
- Support small-scale projects and upgrades of facility systems.
- Participate in emergency response and incident resolution when required.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, or Facilities Engineering.
- 3–5 years' experience in facilities engineering, maintenance, or construction.
- Knowledge of MEP and building systems maintenance.
- Familiarity with outsourced vendor management.
Skills & Competencies
- Facilities Maintenance: support preventive and corrective maintenance of MEP and building systems (Intermediate).
- Technical Inspection: conduct inspections and report maintenance requirements (Intermediate).
- Vendor Coordination: work with service providers to deliver FM services (Intermediate).
- Compliance & HSE Awareness: apply UAE regulatory and safety requirements in daily tasks (Basic).
- Sustainability Practices: contribute to energy-saving and eco-friendly initiatives (Basic).
- Documentation & Reporting: maintain records of inspections, repairs, and performance (Intermediate).
- Systems & Tools Proficiency: use CAFM, ERP, and engineering tools for reporting and monitoring (Intermediate).
- Technical Problem Solving: provide input to resolve technical issues under supervision (Intermediate).
Additional Information
Desirable Qualifications
- Master's degree in Engineering, Facilities Management, or related discipline.
- Professional certifications (e.g., PMP, LEED, CFM).
- Experience with smart building systems and CAFM software.
Work Structure
- Individual contributor role with no direct reports.
- May guide supervisors or technicians on specific tasks if assigned.
- Operates under the supervision of senior engineers.
- Provides technical input; major decisions are escalated.
- No budget authority but contributes to efficient service delivery through inspections and reporting.
