Role Overview

Expert - Technical Equipment Engineering at AD Ports Group, planning and deploying terminal handling equipment and technical assets across international port and logistics operations with strategic technical authority for equipment engineering matters.

Role Purpose

Lead the planning, specification development, selection, and deployment of terminal handling equipment and technical assets across international port and logistics projects, while providing strategic technical authority for equipment engineering matters and supporting port development and operations globally.

Key Responsibilities

Equipment Planning & Specification

• Lead planning, specification development, selection, and deployment of terminal handling equipment and technical assets across international port and logistics projects.
• Develop technical equipment concepts, layouts, and engineering solutions aligned with operational requirements, terminal design, and business objectives.
• Develop technical specifications, scope of work documents, tender packages, and engineering standards for equipment procurement and implementation.
• Support FEED activities, structuring tender packages, master planning, and terminal development projects by defining equipment requirements, capacities, quantities, and operational interfaces.

Technical Evaluation & Analysis

• Conduct technical evaluations, feasibility assessments, and equipment performance analyses to optimize operational efficiency, reliability, and safety.
• Develop equipment maintenance strategies, lifecycle cost assessments, OPEX estimates, and manpower requirements to support sustainable terminal operations.
• Support investment decisions through technical due diligence, equipment lifecycle analysis, risk assessments, and cost-benefit evaluations.

Procurement & Vendor Management

• Provide technical expertise during procurement activities, including supplier qualification, technical bid evaluations, contract negotiations, and vendor performance assessments.
• Manage equipment contracts throughout the delivery lifecycle, including design review, manufacturing, FAT/SAT, commissioning, handover, and warranty management.

Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement

• Collaborate with operations, project development, engineering, procurement, and external consultants to ensure successful delivery of equipment-related solutions across international projects.
• Establish strategic partnerships with equipment manufacturers, engineering consultants, and technology providers to strengthen technical capabilities and innovation.
• Contribute to business development initiatives by assessing technical feasibility, equipment requirements, and operational readiness for new port and logistics opportunities.

Compliance & Standards

• Ensure all equipment solutions comply with applicable international standards, regulatory requirements, safety regulations, and environmental guidelines.
• Drive standardization of technical equipment specifications, engineering practices, and operational requirements across international projects.
• Champion safety, sustainability, and operational excellence by embedding international best practices into equipment engineering and asset management frameworks.

Reporting & Strategic Guidance

• Prepare technical reports, engineering studies, business cases, project updates, and recommendations for management review and decision-making.
• Act as the technical authority for equipment engineering matters, providing strategic guidance to project stakeholders, leadership teams, and operating entities.

Strategy & Innovation

• Develop and implement long-term technical equipment engineering strategies that support the International Office's port, terminal, and logistics growth objectives.
• Provide subject matter expertise for greenfield and brownfield port development projects, ensuring equipment investments align with operational and commercial strategies.
• Evaluate emerging technologies, automation solutions, electrification initiatives, and smart port innovations to enhance operational competitiveness and sustainability.
• Support the development of future-ready terminal operating models by integrating advanced equipment technologies, automation systems, and digital engineering solutions.
• Identify opportunities for technology enhancement, automation, digitization, and continuous improvement across equipment engineering activities.

People Management & Development

• Develop and implement training and development programs to enhance the team's technical capabilities as needed.
• Foster a culture of continuous learning, innovation, and collaboration within the engineering team.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, preferably in Mechanical, Electrical, or Marine Engineering; a master's degree or equivalent is a plus.
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in port and maritime equipment engineering.
• At least 5 years in a managerial role.
• Professional Engineering (PE) certification or equivalent is preferred.
• In-depth understanding of port and maritime equipment engineering principles, standards, and best practices.
• Familiarity with international regulations and compliance requirements for port and maritime operations.

Skills & Competencies

• Proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD) software and other relevant engineering tools (desired).
• Strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
• Excellent communication and people skills, with a proven track record in managing high-performing engineering teams.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and implement innovative solutions to complex technical challenges.
• Fluency in English; knowledge of additional languages is a plus.
