Role Purpose

Monitor and provide technical support to an assigned program area by evaluating work sites for compliance with Federal, State, and local requirements, conducting inspections and specialized testing, performing root cause analysis, developing training programs, and interacting with middle management to ensure operations meet or exceed regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities

Compliance & Monitoring

• Evaluate work sites to ensure operations are in compliance with Federal, State, and local requirements.
• Perform environment, safety, and health (ESH) inspections.
• Conduct observations and program evaluations.
• Perform root cause analysis (RCA).

Risk Management & Program Development

• Implement a standardized ESH program based on a Management System approach.
• Perform risk analysis and develop programs that exceed basic regulatory compliance.
• Identify needed resources, such as personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Identify required training for employees in various operations.

Technical Support & Corrective Actions

• Provide technical support to area supervisors and managers in corrective actions for compliance deficiencies.
• Operate monitoring equipment and conduct specialized testing of physical, chemical, and environmental stressors.
• Write technical reports.

Training & Documentation

• Develop training packages and instruct training packages.
• Perform and document training.
• Document and submit monthly performance metrics.

Employee Engagement

• Implement employee reward and recognition program.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Chemistry, Engineering, Biology, or Technical certification in Occupational Health, Industrial Hygiene, Industrial Safety, or Environmental Science/Management. One year of related experience may be substituted for one year of education if degree is required.
• Minimum of three (3) years of experience in environmental compliance, OSHA compliance, ISO experience, hazardous waste management, and pollution prevention.
• Knowledge of Overseas Environmental Baseline Guidance Document (OEBGD), Department of Defense (DoD) environmental regulations, and U.S. Army Safety and Environmental Regulations, including Federal OSHA and EPA regulations.
• Military background and training beneficial.
• Must be able to obtain a Host Country Driver's License.
• Must be CAC eligible and/or the ability to obtain a CAC.

Skills & Competencies

• Ability to instruct small and medium groups of people.
• Competent in computer operations to include Microsoft Office: Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Strong ability to work independently.

Additional Information

Working Conditions

• Must be capable of working in extreme weather conditions with temperatures exceeding 120 degrees Fahrenheit.
• Indoor and/or outdoor environment with very adverse and harsh conditions: hot, dry, dusty, desert environment with average temperatures of 30 degrees in the winter and 130 degrees in the summer months.
• Includes some industrial production environment conditions.

Physical Requirements

• Medium work: exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
• Work may require heavy lifting, stooping, climbing, prolonged standing, prolonged sitting, and working in areas where potential exposure to physical, chemical, or biological agents exists.
• Employee use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required for some situations, including head, foot, torso, respiratory, vision, and hearing protective devices.
• Must comply with all Fire and Safety Regulations and post policies.
