EOI - Senior Corrosion Engineer

Role Overview

Wood PLC is inviting expressions of interest for a Senior Corrosion Engineer to join its team in Abu Dhabi. This is a client secondment role supporting a major energy sector client, with an assignment duration of three years.

Role Purpose

The Senior Corrosion Engineer will support the delivery of corrosion and materials engineering activities as part of a broader asset integrity management programme for a major operating client in the UAE. The role will be embedded within the client's organisation and will contribute to the ongoing integrity, reliability and performance of critical production assets.

Key Responsibilities

Corrosion Engineering & Assessment

• Deliver corrosion engineering studies and technical assessments for client operating assets.
• Undertake corrosion assessments and support integrity studies.
• Participate in Corrosion Risk Assessment Studies (CRAS).
• Review material selection, corrosion risks and integrity threats associated with process facilities and pipelines.

Corrosion Management & Monitoring

• Support development of corrosion management strategies and corrosion monitoring programmes.
• Support Integrity Operating Window (IOW) development and implementation activities.

Technical Deliverables & Reporting

• Develop technical reports, engineering recommendations and integrity management deliverables.
• Develop technical deliverables and provide engineering expertise to multidisciplinary teams.
• Ability to prepare engineering reports, assessments and technical recommendations.

Integrity & Asset Studies

• Contribute to Risk-Based Inspection (RBI) assessments and methodology reviews.
• Support Fitness-for-Service (FFS), Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and asset life extension studies.

Stakeholder Engagement & Compliance

• Participate in site visits, integrity reviews, technical workshops and stakeholder meetings.
• Liaise with multidisciplinary teams to ensure effective implementation of integrity recommendations.
• Ensure compliance with client requirements, applicable codes, standards and best practices.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Corrosion Engineering, Metallurgy or related discipline.
• Minimum 10 years' experience in corrosion and materials engineering within oil and gas or related industries.
• AMPP/NACE Senior Corrosion Technologist or equivalent preferred.
• API 571 certification.
• API 580 certification advantageous.
• Experience supporting corrosion management and integrity management programmes.
• Experience supporting Corrosion Risk Assessment Studies (CRAS), Integrity Operating Window (IOW) development and asset integrity management programmes.
• Experience supporting RBI, FFS and asset life extension studies.
• Experience working with operating assets and brownfield facilities.
• Previous experience supporting National Oil Companies (NOCs), major international operators or operating assets within the Middle East preferred.

Skills & Competencies

• Practical knowledge of corrosion monitoring, material selection and degradation mechanisms.
• Familiarity with API, ASME, ISO, DNV and AMPP/NACE standards.
