Role Overview
Engineering Work Package Manager for Radio Communication Systems at Thales, located in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.

Role Purpose
Manage the end-to-end Project Engineering Lifecycle for radio communication systems, overseeing development activities, risks and opportunities, schedules and delivery coordination to ensure performance and milestone achievement.
Key Responsibilities
Delivery Management
- Conduct all work package delivery activities including organization, scheduling, effort and budget control, risk and opportunities management.
- Manage the Engineering team to deliver the solution.
- Structure and master the delivery process.
- Manage technical debt and its impact on planning and delivery.
- Manage co-contracting and subcontracting activities.
- Coordinate work across teams to ensure work package success.
Stakeholder Management & Coordination
- Facilitate collaborative work across teams and stakeholders.
- Conduct and manage reviews with the Business Line, Project Management and Customer such as monthly reviews and design reviews.
- Manage and coordinate activities with project teams including System Engineering, Infrastructure & Cyber Security, and IVVQ.
- Liaise with the Project Manager and head of disciplines on all work package aspects, especially resources and skills management.
- Engage and influence a diverse set of stakeholders to create clear and achievable goals.
Engineering Quality & Customer Focus
- Provide the best engineering solutions for customers through close engagement and serve as the quality guarantee of engineering solutions.
- Master technical content to manage financial, planning and reporting aspects.
- Anticipate difficulties and opportunities available to the team.
- Contribute to the future products of the Thales Group.
- Work on complex, disruptive and stimulating projects.

- Use safety equipment including PPE as required and intended.
Qualifications & Experience
- Master of Engineering or Computer Science degree or equivalent university qualification.
- Minimum 5 years' experience in one of the following positions: Engineering Manager, IT / Technical Project Manager, or Software Engineering Manager.
- Minimum 5 years' relevant work package management or project management role.
- Proven experience managing a delivery team of more than 20 people.
- Good skillset in delivery of complex systems including Software, New Technologies, Cyber and integrated teams localized in different countries.
- Experience in multi-disciplined and multi-cultural environments.
- Relevant experience producing engineering documentation including Specifications, Design, IVVQ deliverables and User Manuals.
- Project management techniques including scheduling, risk management, estimating, progress reporting and stakeholder management.
- Certification in IPMA or PMP is an added advantage.
Skills & Competencies
- Leadership and ability to manage technical engineering projects with clear view of risks and opportunities.
- Ability to manage tradeoffs on project including technical choices, on-time delivery, technical depth and customer satisfaction.
- Decision-making ability, including in uncertain contexts.
- Proficiency in English and French languages.
- Experience and knowledge in Radio and Tactical Data Link systems.
- Knowledge of Communication Networks.
- Knowledge of Infrastructure and IT Solutions.
- Knowledge of Mission Critical Systems such as C2 / C4.
- Experience with Large and Complex Systems.
Additional Information
The role requires significant experience in Radio Communication Technologies and System and Radio Hosting Infrastructure. The Engineering team comprises different roles and engineering disciplines including Solution Architecture, System Engineering, Software Engineers and Integration Engineers (IVVQ).
