Skills & Competencies
Technical Competencies
- Product Problem Solving: Solve product problems using a process that protects the customer; determine assignable cause; implement robust, data-based solutions; identify systemic root causes and recommended actions to prevent problem reoccurrence.
- Product Verification and Validation Management: Coordinate development of design verification and system validation plans; identify failure modes while managing risk and relative priority; evaluate analytical and experimental test results following engineering principles; verify that products meet internal technical requirements and validate that design solutions meet customer needs; produce recommendations with technical documentation to support product decisions.
- Product Failure Mode Avoidance: Mitigate potential product failure modes by identifying interfaces, functions, functional requirements, interactions, control factors, noise factors, and prioritized potential failure modes and causes for the system of interest to improve reliability of Cummins products.
- Product Development Execution, Monitoring and Control: Plan, schedule, coordinate and execute activities involved in developing a product to aligned hierarchy of requirements and technical profiles; monitor and communicate across functional boundaries to meet project resource and quality expectations; ensure product capability meets or exceeds expectations; take mitigating actions when project risks are higher than expected; understand the full product life cycle process and stakeholders.
- Technical Documentation: Document information based on knowledge gained as part of technical function activities; communicate to stakeholders with the goal of enabling improved technical productivity and effective knowledge transfer.
- System Capability Engineering: Identify system capability and risks through analysis or experimental testing of the system, sub-system, or super system in the context of its environment; negotiate and verify requirements against capability to guide project scope and system development; assess legacy system versus proposed new system solution capabilities; make decisions on how best to achieve system capability with consideration of stakeholder trade-offs.
- Cross-Functional Design Integration: Translate value package requirements that include voices of many stakeholders into virtual designs; communicate the capability of the design through approved cross-functional design review.
Behavioral Competencies
- Decision Quality: Make good and timely decisions that keep the organization moving forward.
