Role Overview
Engineering Manager with Wood PLC on the ADNOC Offshore - Umm Shaif Gas Cap Phase 1 - Package 2 & 3 project. The role is based in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
Role Purpose
Manage all engineering aspects of the project to ensure technical objectives are met within approved scope, budget, and schedule. Provide leadership to the Engineering Department and FEED Engineering Contractor while ensuring compliance with codes, standards, HSE guidelines, and best practices.
Key Responsibilities
Project Engineering Leadership
- Manage all engineering aspects of the project to ensure technical objectives are met within approved scope, budget, and schedule.
- Provide leadership to the Engineering Department and the FEED Engineering Contractor.
- Provide technical and administrative guidance to the PMT and Contractor's engineering organizations.
Technical Quality & Compliance
- Ensure quality and accuracy of Engineering Consultant's engineering activities and compliance with contract, project specifications, relevant codes and standards, and best practices.
- Ensure compliance with relevant codes, standards, HSE guidelines, and best practices.
- Ensure adequate technical expertise is available to perform technical reviews of deliverables developed by engineering consultants and contractors.
- Support the Project Quality Assurance Program.
Design & Technical Reviews
- Sponsor layout, design, 3D Model, HAZID, and PHA reviews and workshops and ensure their completeness and quality.
- Oversee design optimization and validation.
- Pursue economical design optimization.
- Ensure technical requirements of the Brownfield scope are adequately defined and engineered.
- Ensure appropriate engineering expertise and participation in the development and analysis of various design options and business models.
Risk & Change Management
- Manage technical aspects of Project Risk Management Plan.
- Manage technical aspects of Management of Change Program.
Procurement & Vendor Management
- Manage technical bid analysis activities.
- Ensure appropriate technical involvement and analysis during vendor prequalification, bid evaluation, and performance evaluation.
Stakeholder Coordination
- Coordinate and interface with other Technical Departments, Business Units, Operations, and contractors and consultants to resolve technical issues and ensure quality engineering execution and integrity.
Team Development
- Oversee the development of ADNOC engineering staff assigned to the project.
- Mentor junior engineers.
- Manage recruitment and development of technical staff.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or equivalent.
- Master's degree in Management or equivalent.
- Minimum 20+ years' experience within the oil and gas sector, with broad experience in all phases (engineering, procurement, and construction) of major oil and gas capital projects and facilities design.
- Minimum 10 years as an Engineering Manager.
- Experience with contractors and suppliers worldwide, particularly those involved in the construction of major oil and gas facilities.
- Experience in the recruitment and development of technical staff.
Skills & Competencies
- Knowledge of relevant international codes and standards.
- Knowledge of engineering computer programs and general business software.
- Ability to make independent decisions in planning, organizing, and coordinating to develop solutions to complex problems.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent technical team and interpersonal skills.
