Role Overview
Engineer - Permitting and Licensing at BlackStone eIT, located in Abu Dhabi. The role manages processes related to obtaining and maintaining permits and licenses required for company operations.
Role Purpose
Lead, manage, and implement a structured compliance program targeting establishments engaged in petroleum product activities across Abu Dhabi. Drive permit regularization efforts to improve compliance with applicable regulatory frameworks, ensure timely submission of DoE permit applications, resolve compliance barriers, and increase the number of establishments obtaining required permits in line with defined timelines and sector objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Permitting & Licensing Management
- Identify and manage all permitting and licensing requirements across various jurisdictions.
- Prepare and submit permit applications, renewal documents, and supporting materials.
- Maintain accurate records of all permits and licenses, including expiration dates and renewal processes.
Regulatory Coordination
- Coordinate with government agencies and regulatory bodies to facilitate approvals.
- Liaise with regulatory authorities to support permit processing.
- Escalate compliance issues to appropriate stakeholders.
Compliance & Corrective Action
- Ensure compliance with environmental, safety, and operational regulations related to permits and licenses.
- Conduct compliance reviews and identify corrective actions.
- Follow up with companies to resolve compliance barriers.
- Support audit activities related to permitting and licensing.
Risk Mitigation & Strategy
- Develop strategies to expedite permits and mitigate risks associated with regulatory non-compliance.
- Advise internal teams on legal requirements and changes in regulations affecting permits and licensing.
Reporting & Monitoring
- Monitor and report on permit regularization progress and performance metrics.
- Track compliance status and adherence to defined timelines.
Continuous Improvement
- Drive continuous improvement in compliance processes and awareness initiatives.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Environmental, Chemical, Mechanical, or related field).
- Minimum 5 years of experience in permitting and licensing within energy, petroleum, or related industries.
- Proven experience liaising with government agencies and regulatory authorities.
- Strong knowledge of local, regional, and international regulatory requirements.
- Familiarity with environmental compliance and health & safety regulations is a plus.
