Role Purpose

The Loss Prevention Site Engineer implements and monitors loss prevention, safety, and risk management programs across all activities related to the construction, testing, and commissioning of 440 kV substations and associated transmission line infrastructure. The role ensures compliance with client requirements, statutory regulations, international standards, and company HSE policies to prevent injuries, property damage, environmental incidents, and operational disruptions.

Key Responsibilities

Contractor Management & Compliance

• Follow up on works completed by the contractor and control work procedures to ensure compliance with tender specifications and general contract conditions.
• Verify and approve materials according to contract specifications and requirements.
• Ensure that installation, testing, and commissioning works are carried out as per approved documents and drawings.

Fire Detection & Protection Systems

• Monitor erection, commissioning, testing, and implementation of Fire Detection and Alarm Systems.
• Monitor erection, commissioning, testing, and implementation of Deluge Water Spray Systems.
• Monitor erection, commissioning, testing, and implementation of Sprinkler Systems.
• Monitor erection, commissioning, testing, and implementation of Water Mist Systems.
• Monitor erection, commissioning, testing, and implementation of Clean Agent (FM200) Systems.
• Monitor erection, commissioning, testing, and implementation of Fire Extinguisher Systems.
• Monitor erection, commissioning, testing, and implementation of Fire Pumps and Controllers.
• Monitor erection, commissioning, testing, and implementation of Passive Fire Protection.

Electrical Safety & Protection Systems

• Monitor erection, commissioning, testing, and implementation of Transformer Explosion Prevention Systems.
• Monitor erection, commissioning, testing, and implementation of Lightning Protection Systems.

Building Systems Integration

• Monitor erection, commissioning, testing, and implementation of Smoke Extraction Systems.
• Monitor erection, commissioning, testing, and implementation of Emergency Lighting Systems.
• Monitor erection, commissioning, testing, and implementation of Security Management Systems.
• Ensure necessary interfaces of Security Management Systems with regard to loss prevention systems.
• Manage interfaces between loss prevention, HVAC, smoke extraction, security management, and explosion prevention systems.
• Manage interface of loss prevention systems with substation control system and Network Control Centre.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Fire Protection Engineering from a reputed university.
• Minimum 6 years of experience in loss prevention engineering.
• Demonstrated experience on major Transmission and Water projects with required knowledge and background in design, inspection, erection, and commissioning of Loss Prevention systems.
• Experience carrying out or preparing preliminary studies, tender documents, contract procedures, technical specifications, and bid evaluation on relevant projects.
• Full conversance with and referral of all relevant international NFPA Codes and Standards.

Skills & Competencies

• Registered member of NFPA, USA.
