Role Purpose

The Energization Manager leads the planning, preparation, and execution of energization and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) activities on large-scale engineering projects. The role ensures electrical systems are safely and systematically brought into operation, with emphasis on functional testing, coordination across disciplines, and achievement of project timelines, budgets, and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

Energization Strategy & Planning

• Conduct workshops and oversee implementation of energization strategies.
• Reevaluate schedule and options for each function to meet client prerequisites based on remaining timeline.
• Prepare Energization procedure and define SAT/energization management objectives.
• Assemble necessary engineering documents including drawings, vendor prints, and FAT reports for energization.
• Understand and communicate complete project schedule, energization requirements and procedure.

Equipment Management & Monitoring

• Assess equipment FAT/delivery status and track licensing preparation progress.
• Develop equipment list for monitoring construction progress of key devices (SWGR/MCC/TR/Busduct, etc.).
• Compile list of managed electrical equipment.
• Define and enter level of construction item management.
• Manage punch status related to energization.

Energization Progress System

• Establish and operate the EPS system (Energization Progress Management System).

SAT Management & Testing

• Devise strategy for conducting SAT.
• Manage SAT schedule, manpower utilization, and test equipment operation.
• Review and adapt test items from standard SAT list according to project traits.
• Specify test subjects (R&R) considering capabilities of testing specialist company and regional features.
• Confirm SAT procedures, including equipment-specific ones.
• Manage SAT with emphasis on functional testing.
• Prepare dispatch schedule for Vendor Technical Advisor by referring to schedule and plan of testing specialist company.
• Request supervision through procurement team one month prior to SAT commencement.

Team Coordination & Leadership

• Formulate energization team considering required factors and capabilities.
• Collaborate with project management team to achieve project timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
• Work jointly with mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) engineers and operations teams.
• Participate in vendor and subcontractor meetings.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Minimum 15 years' experience managing energization processes in large-scale projects, ideally in oil and gas or petrochemical sectors.
• Minimum 5 years' experience in role of Lead Engineer (design) of large-scale project in oil and gas sector.
• Thorough knowledge of electrical systems design, procurement engineering of electrical equipment, and site testing methods.
• Demonstrated experience leading and coordinating electrical equipment testing activities.
• Familiarity with protection devices.
• Relevant certifications in Electrical Engineering, Electric Apparatus or Electric Work are preferred.
