Electrical Engineer - Substation(short term assignment)

Role Overview

Electrical Engineer - Substation with WSP in the Middle East. This is a short-term assignment role managing and coordinating the planning, design, construction, testing, and commissioning of electrical systems for transmission GIS substation projects from 132kV to 400kV level.

Role Purpose

Oversee all aspects of electrical systems for transmission GIS substation projects from 132kV to 400kV level, from construction through commissioning stage, ensuring compliance with specifications, safety regulations, and client requirements while coordinating with internal teams and external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

Project Planning & Coordination

• Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to develop project plans, schedules, and budgets in alignment with client requirements and industry standards.
• Coordinate with contractors, suppliers, and vendors to procure equipment, materials, and services necessary for project execution.

Design & Engineering Review

• Review and evaluate engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documents related to the substation.
• Provide technical guidance and support to project team members, subcontractors, and clients as needed.

Construction & Installation Oversight

• Supervise the installation, testing, and commissioning of electrical equipment and systems, ensuring compliance with project specifications and safety regulations.
• Manage GIS Switchgear, substation equipment installation, Control Protection, Telecommunication, Pre-commissioning Testing, LDC integration, and commissioning of plant.

Quality Assurance & Inspection

• Conduct site inspections and quality assurance checks to verify the integrity and performance of electrical installations.
• Address technical issues and resolve challenges encountered during the construction and operation phases of projects.

Documentation & Reporting

• Prepare comprehensive progress reports, documentation, and as-built drawings for client review and approval.
• Stay informed about industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices related to electrical engineering and substations.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• Minimum of 10+ years of experience in electrical engineering, with a focus on transmission substations from 132kV to 400kV level projects.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
• Experience with power distribution, protection schemes, and relay coordination for substations.

Skills & Competencies

• Proficiency in AutoCAD and electrical design software.
• Proficiency in other relevant engineering tools.
• Strong knowledge of electrical systems, equipment, and components used in substations.
