Electrical Engineer (Corniche Hospital)

Role Overview

Electrical Engineer at SEHA Hospitals, Corniche Hospital, supporting the Senior Engineer in ensuring all activities comply with SEHA safety and management standards, policies, procedures, statutory and contractual requirements.

Role Purpose

To plan, design, supervise and commission electrical works and systems in a large healthcare facility while maintaining full compliance with safety standards, contractual obligations and industry regulations.

Key Responsibilities

Planning & Design

• Plan and design all electrical works.
• Design and produce drawings of electrical systems using computer-assisted design (CAD) if required.
• Decide on the type and arrangement of circuits, circuit-breakers and equipment based on calculations.
• Prepare and interpret specifications, drawings and regulations for the use of electric power equipment.
• Work out delivery and installation schedules for machines, cables and fittings.
• Ensure construction plans and specifications and draw up contracts.

Project Management & Supervision

• Manage day-to-day activities of the department.
• Supervise and follow up all activities related to electrical works before, during and after the execution of projects.
• Ensure that all works are carried out in accordance with contract drawings, specification, instructions and programs.
• Plan, coordinate and prepare construction programs as required.
• Prepare project status reports as necessary.

Testing, Commissioning & Compliance

• Plan, arrange and control material compliance testing and evaluation and maintain records.
• Plan, arrange and record inspection and test activities for materials and workmanship.
• Test and commission equipment as per manufacturer requirement.
• Identify, raise, resolve and record technical queries and items of extended scope of works.

Documentation & Control

• Ensure documentation for the department.
• Prepare material take-offs, price comparisons and order materials as required.
• Manage and maintain document control systems for construction and maintenance information.
• Prepare method statements as required.
• Assist in the planning and preparation of permits to work and task risk assessments.

Interdisciplinary Collaboration

• Communicate and consult with other healthcare disciplines.
• Attend interdisciplinary meetings to provide technical support and advice.
• Participate in joint meetings with members of the Health Authority Engineering Directorate.
• Participate in the development, communication and evaluation of standards, procedures and protocols.
• Participate in cross-functional teams and committees as appropriate.

Team Leadership & Development

• Report to the Senior Engineer Electrical section about all electrical works.
• Manage subordinates and ensure team development and complaint resolution.
• Set KPIs for direct reports and conduct performance appraisal.
• Drive motivation levels of direct reports.
• Develop and enhance team procedure manual and processes and discuss with seniors.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering.
• 2–4 years of relevant experience in a similar industry.
• Experience in a large healthcare facility (desired).
