Ali & Sons Marine Engineering Factory (ASMEF) is a subsidiary of Ali & Sons Holding LLC and a leading provider of engineering, fabrication, construction, and ship repair services for the Oil & Gas and marine sectors. Established in 2009, ASMEF is located in Mussafah, Abu Dhabi, and operates one of the largest facilities in the region, comprising a 280,000m² yard and a 545m waterfront. The facility is strategically positioned as the closest yard to the Abu Dhabi Oil Fields, providing access to onshore and offshore operations and serving local and overseas markets. ASMEF delivers complex projects with a strong focus on safety, quality, operational excellence, and compliance with international standards and client requirements.
Role Purpose
Design, estimate, and execute Electrical and Instrumentation scopes for modules, e-houses, and onshore projects while delivering engineering activities within approved schedules, allocated budgets, and required quality standards, and coordinating with internal departments, clients, vendors, subcontractors, and classification societies.
Key Responsibilities
Design & Engineering
- Prepare preliminary designs and detailed engineering for Electrical and Instrumentation works based on project scope and client requirements.
- Ensure Electrical and Instrumentation engineering activities comply with project specifications, approved drawings, work instructions, procedures, and applicable standards.
Estimation & Materials
- Prepare Bills of Quantities (BOQs) and Material Take-Offs (MTOs) for project estimation covering all Electrical and Instrumentation works.
- Prepare Material Purchase Requisitions for project Electrical and Instrumentation materials.
Engineering Deliverables & Planning
- Prepare and maintain the Engineering Deliverable Register in coordination with the Engineering Manager and relevant departments.
- Coordinate and monitor engineering deliverables to ensure timely completion in line with project schedules.
- Monitor engineering productivity and ensure completion of scheduled work packages within required timelines.
Team & Resource Management
- Delegate and assign duties to Designers and Draftsmen based on project requirements and monitor progress to ensure timely completion.
- Ability to coordinate with Designers and Draftsmen and monitor engineering deliverables.
Vendor & Procurement Coordination
- Review vendor quotations and conduct technical bid evaluations in accordance with project specifications and requirements.
- Liaise with vendors to obtain technical information, clarifications, and engineering inputs.
Stakeholder Coordination
- Coordinate with clients, subcontractors, classification societies, and internal departments on technical and engineering matters.
- Support project execution by providing necessary engineering inputs and technical clarifications to other departments.
Problem Resolution & Support
- Identify technical issues, constraints, and design requirements and coordinate with relevant stakeholders for timely resolution.
- Follow instructions from the Engineering Manager and undertake other assignments essential to the effective functioning of the Engineering Department.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in Electrical & Instrumentation engineering.
- Experience in Oil & Gas, EPC, module fabrication, e-house, or onshore projects is preferred.
- Strong experience in Electrical and Instrumentation design, engineering deliverables, BOQ/MTO preparation, and project execution.
- Experience in preparing Material Purchase Requisitions and reviewing vendor technical quotations.
- Experience conducting technical bid evaluations and coordinating with vendors for technical inputs.
- Good understanding of engineering drawings, project specifications, work procedures, and applicable industry standards.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong coordination, communication, technical problem-solving, and planning skills.
- Proficiency in English.
- Proficiency in MS Office and AutoCAD.
