Role Overview
Doorman at Marriott International. This is a guest-facing position at a hotel property responsible for welcoming guests, managing luggage, arranging transportation, and ensuring a positive arrival and departure experience.
Role Purpose
Greet and escort guests, provide information about property amenities and local attractions, manage luggage, facilitate guest transportation, and maintain professional service standards that reflect Marriott's commitment to hospitality excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Guest Greeting & Assistance
- Greet and escort guests to rooms.
- Welcome and acknowledge all guests with genuine appreciation.
- Assist guests and visitors entering and leaving the property.
- Assist individuals with disabilities.
- Thank guests with genuine appreciation.
Guest Information & Orientation
- Inform guests of property amenities, services, and hours of operation.
- Inform guests of local areas of interest and activities.
- Identify and explain room features to guests, including use of room key, mini-bar, ice and vending areas, in-room safe, and valet laundry services.
- Supply guests with directions.
- Communicate parking procedures to guests and visitors.
Luggage & Transportation Management
- Transport guest luggage to and from guest rooms and/or designated bell area.
- Assist with luggage storage and retrieval.
- Assist guests and visitors in and out of vehicles, including loading and unloading luggage.
- Arrange transportation for guests and visitors, including taxicab, shuttle bus, limousine, and sedan service.
- Record advance transportation requests as needed.
Safety, Compliance & Professionalism
- Follow all company policies and procedures.
- Report accidents, injuries, and unsafe work conditions to manager.
- Maintain awareness of undesirable persons on property premises.
- Ensure uniform and personal appearance are clean and professional.
- Maintain confidentiality of proprietary information.
- Comply with quality assurance expectations and standards.
- Perform other reasonable job duties as requested by supervisors.
Communication & Relationships
- Speak with others using clear and professional language.
- Answer telephones using appropriate etiquette.
- Develop and maintain positive working relationships with others.
- Anticipate and address guests' service needs.
Qualifications & Experience
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- No related work experience required.
- No supervisory experience required.
- No license or certification required.
Skills & Competencies
- Ability to read and visually verify information in a variety of formats, including small print.
- Ability to move at a speed required to respond to work situations, including running, walking, and jogging.
- Ability to stand, sit, or walk for an extended period of time or for an entire work shift.
- Ability to move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing 50 pounds or less without assistance.
- Ability to move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing in excess of 75 pounds with assistance.
- Ability to move over sloping, uneven, or slippery surfaces.
- Ability to move up and down stairs and service ramps.
- Ability to reach overhead and below the knees.
- Ability to bend, twist, pull, and stoop.
