Role Overview
Director, Office of Faculty Affairs at American International University Kuwait, located in Kuwait.
Role Purpose
Lead the Office of Faculty Affairs to advance faculty development, support, and engagement while fostering a collaborative academic environment that strengthens institutional excellence and faculty retention.
Key Responsibilities
Faculty Development & Support
- Develop and implement comprehensive faculty development programs aligned with institutional strategic goals.
- Mentor and coach faculty members to enhance teaching effectiveness and professional growth.
- Establish and maintain faculty peer mentoring and collaborative networks.
- Support faculty research initiatives and scholarly activities.
Human Resources & Administration
- Manage faculty recruitment, hiring, and onboarding processes.
- Oversee faculty contract management and employment records.
- Administer faculty leave requests, absences, and scheduling coordination.
- Process faculty evaluations and performance management documentation.
- Manage faculty compensation and benefits administration.
Stakeholder Management & Communication
- Serve as primary liaison between faculty and senior leadership.
- Facilitate open dialogue and address faculty concerns and grievances.
- Communicate institutional policies and procedural updates to faculty.
- Foster relationships with academic departments and college leadership.
Policy & Governance
- Develop and enforce faculty policies and procedures consistent with institutional standards.
- Ensure compliance with university regulations and employment law.
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive personnel matters.
Planning & Strategy
- Conduct needs assessments to identify faculty development priorities.
- Contribute to institutional planning and strategic initiatives affecting faculty.
Qualifications & Experience
- Master's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Higher Education, or related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in faculty affairs, human resources, or higher education administration.
- Proven experience in faculty development program design and delivery.
- Knowledge of higher education employment practices and regulations.
Skills & Competencies
- Advanced interpersonal and communication skills.
- Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Proficiency with human resources information systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
- Cultural awareness and sensitivity in a diverse, international academic environment.
