Role Purpose
To improve scalability, robustness, and automation of tools and processes while expanding capabilities to support new features. The role focuses on shaping and implementing strategic solutions to keep systems on the cutting edge of technology, ensuring production systems remain operational, visible, and designed for auto-recovery.
Key Responsibilities
Infrastructure & Systems Design
- Participate in the ongoing design, implementation, and maintenance of systems and tools across the cloud stack.
- Shape and implement strategic solutions to ensure systems stay on the bleeding edge of technology.
- Build, maintain, and scale infrastructure for Production, QA, and Dev environments.
- Help ensure systems are operational, visible, and designed for auto-recovery in case of disaster.
Continuous Integration & Deployment
- Ensure support tools work and enable continuous integration, testing, and production deployment.
- Develop and maintain Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery systems.
- Deploy automation solutions in a public cloud environment such as AWS.
Production Operations & Monitoring
- Own responsibility for the deployment and optimization of production systems.
- Manage end-to-end development and production system operations including system maintenance, monitoring (application, system, log), notification, automation, and backend operation.
- Monitor visibility and improvement in system performance and stability.
- Work with third-party vendors to resolve infrastructure issues.
Technology & Process Improvement
- Contribute to the technology stack, covering web development, API development, DB communication/handshake, performance, and security measures.
- Propose new technologies and tools to improve development, testing, and production operations.
- Continually improve DevOps tools, processes, and procedures.
- Write and maintain infrastructure documentation.
Collaboration & Support
- Work closely with various teams across functions including the project team, product team, tech team, and QA team.
- Work closely with Development and QA teams to help ensure end-to-end quality.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field (minimum).
- Minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience as Senior DevOps.
- Experience handling high-traffic production systems, troubleshooting, automation, and regular operation.
- Track record of building and maintaining large-scale software products.
- Demonstrated ability delivering high uptime Software-as-a-Service applications.
- Experience with AWS and Google Cloud.
- AWS Certified DevOps Engineer Professional (preferred).
- Google Certified Professional Cloud Architect (preferred).
- Experience in GCP (preferred).
Skills & Competencies
- Strong scripting skills (Shell scripting, Python, etc.).
- Strong knowledge of Unix-based systems.
- Experience with Continuous Integration/Deployment mechanisms using Jenkins, Nexus, Docker Registry, Gitlab, Ansible/Terraform.
- Experience with Container orchestration (Kubernetes).
- Deployment and configuration tools (Ansible, Chef, Puppet, etc.).
- Experience with version control (Git).
- Familiarity with web development technology and exposure to build/deployment.
- Good knowledge of SaaS, Cloud Infrastructure, and other enterprise-related technologies (AWS).
- Familiarity with micro-service architecture, including understanding of distributed systems concepts and principles.
- Demonstrated ability to proactively manage tasks, projects, and issues.
