Development Manager

Role Overview

Development Manager at Retal. This role oversees all Business Development function activities, including R&D operations and contracting support.

Role Purpose

The Development Manager is responsible for planning, directing and managing all activities, processes and operations within the Business Development function, including R&D activities, and providing support and assistance to contracting functions as and when required.

Key Responsibilities

Strategy & Business Development

• Develop adequate policies, procedures and processes for the Business Development function to maintain efficient operational excellence in order to achieve the company's strategic objectives.
• Identify new projects, including new geographies, and ensure that newly identified opportunities are in line with risk management and diversification strategies.
• Provide input and analysis to ensure competitiveness of services in specific markets and segments to assist in achieving anticipated growth targets for the company.
• Identify and establish new clients for potential business opportunities and maintain strong and close relationships with existing clients.
• Contribute to defining and improving company services through market analysis, sales information and specialized surveys.

Market Research & Analysis

• Plan and oversee market research, analysis and assessment to provide support to company business development and any other research needs of departments.
• Conduct and periodically update research and benchmarking of global and regional contracting companies to identify emerging and leading practices and expand the company business capabilities and market penetration.

Proposal & Bidding Support

• Review detailed proposals for new projects to facilitate approval by executive management.
• Review and recommend bids methodologies and schedules and provide information to ensure full preparation of bid package.
• Review tender documentation in relation to pricing including instructions, general and special conditions and requirements, measurements, bills of quantity, specifications, and drawings.
• Support Estimating & Bidding function in proposal preparation, development and submission.

Financial & Risk Management

• Review financial feasibility of contracting projects and provide inputs and feedback.

Technical Innovation & Compliance

• Participate in the development and evaluation of improved techniques and methodologies in the construction industry through managing Research and Design activities within the department or through external service providers.
• Monitor new technical and environmental regulations and policies issued by the concerned regulators.
• Liaise with corporate Business Development on matters related to latest techniques, equipment and technology used, in addition to sharing and exchanging information and studies.

General

• Perform other duties and tasks as assigned.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Architecture.
• Minimum of 10 years solid experience in business development in the contracting industry.
• Experience in the construction industry and related field in Saudi Arabia and the region.
