Role Overview
Department Manager at Apparel Group. The role ensures highest levels of customer service delivery by retail staff and supports the Store Manager in efficient, profitable store operation in accordance with company policies and procedures.
Role Purpose
To maximize sales and customer loyalty while maintaining brand standards, staff performance, and store operations. The Department Manager provides end-to-end store responsibility in the absence of the Store Manager and acts as a key bridge between staff, management, and customers.
Key Responsibilities
Customer Service & Sales
- Ensure retail staff provide the highest levels of customer service to maximize sales.
- Maintain current product knowledge to respond to and anticipate customer needs effectively.
- Promote the Club Apparel Loyalty Program to maximize loyalty and repeat sales.
- Stay updated on various brands within the group to deliver suggestive selling to customers.
Store Operations
- Assist the Store Manager in efficient and profitable store operation in accordance with company policies and procedures.
- Assume end-to-end store responsibility in the absence of the Store Manager.
- Implement operating procedures at the store as per company standards.
- Regularly audit store administration and resolve any issues identified.
- Maintain visual merchandising standards at all times in accordance with set VM standards.
Staff Management
- Manage the daily roster, leave requests, and grievances of retail staff.
- Ensure retail staff possess the skills and support required for maximizing sales.
- Provide feedback to the Store Manager and Area Manager regarding employee performance and development.
Compliance & Standards
- Ensure brand and company policies and procedures are adhered to by all staff at all times.
- Maintain awareness and vigilance of store security without negligence.
- Demonstrate fashionable, well-groomed appearance with updated product knowledge to ensure minimal stock loss.
- Maintain knowledge of new products, trends, and fashion directives at all times.
