Department Head

Role Overview

Department Head at Majid Al Futtaim, MAF Retail Hypermarket, Kuwait.

Role Purpose

Ensure the quality, range, and freshness of offered goods to attract and satisfy customers. Coordinate and communicate between Merchandisers, Sales Teams, and other relevant service providers within the assigned area.

Key Responsibilities

Strategy & Commercial Positioning

• Develop and implement department strategies to maintain competitive advantage within the store.
• Manage supplier negotiations and internal promotions to strengthen the store's commercial positioning.

Asset & Financial Management

• Oversee pricing policies, product assortment, and department asset profitability.

Operations & Inventory

• Ensure effective stock management, including inventory control, replenishment, and merchandise deliveries.
• Implement initiatives to reduce waste, shrinkage, and out-of-stock situations.
• Supervise staff scheduling and ensure operational efficiency within the department.

Standards & Compliance

• Monitor security, hygiene, and customer service standards across the department.

People & Team Development

• Lead, coach, and develop team members.
• Support performance management and succession planning.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Retail Management, or a related field.
• Minimum 3+ years of experience in the retail industry.
• Minimum 2+ years of experience in an operations or supervisory role.

Skills & Competencies

• Strong communication and presentation skills.

• General product knowledge.
