Role Overview

Dental Assistant at Nahdi in Riyadh. The role provides complete chairside assistance to general and specialist dentists during clinical and surgical dental procedures and performs clinical supportive functions.

Role Purpose

Support dentists across all dental specialties by providing efficient chairside assistance, maintaining patient records and instruments, and ensuring safe, comfortable patient experiences during diagnostic, operative, surgical, and preventive procedures.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Chairside Support

• Assist dentists in diagnostic, operative, surgical, periodontal, preventive, orthodontic, prosthodontic, endodontic, and pedodontic procedures during examination and treatment of patients.
• Retract cheeks and tissues and irrigate and aspirate mouth fluids without harm or discomfort to the patient.
• Anticipate the dentist's needs and practice four-handed dentistry to provide efficient operative procedures.
• Perform expanded duty procedures under the supervision of the dentist as required.

Patient Management

• Prepare and dismiss patients for appointments and procedures.
• Review patient medical history and alert the dentist to significant problems.
• Assist in updating and maintaining patient medical history records.
• Flag patient charts to note significant history problems.
• Instruct patients in post-operative home care procedures as directed by the dentist.
• Provide post-operative instructions prescribed by the dentist.

Records & Documentation

• Chart accurately the findings of the patient's oral conditions as reported by the doctor.
• Record the treatment rendered in the patient's permanent chart.

Instrument & Equipment Management

• Perform point of use cleaning of instrumentation and disinfection of equipment.
• Maintain supply orders.

Emergency Response

• Maintain and periodically review skills learned in First Aid and Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation.
• Handle medical emergencies until the dentist arrives on scene.
• Assist the dentist in rendering emergency first aid until additional medical help is available.

General Duties

• Perform other miscellaneous related duties as requested by the dentist.

Qualifications & Experience

• Diploma in dental assisting or related field.
• 2 to 5 years of clinical experience in dental assisting.

Skills & Competencies

• Office and Health Information Systems proficiency.
• English and Arabic: fluent speaking and writing.
• First Aid and Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation certification.

Additional Information

• Work environment: 100% indoors.
• Working pattern: 6 working days per week, 1 day off per week.
• Working hours: 8 net working hours according to shift schedule approved by head of department.
