Role Overview

Dean of the School of Architecture & Design at American International University Kuwait, located in Kuwait.

Role Purpose

Lead the School of Architecture & Design through strategic vision, academic excellence, and operational effectiveness. Oversee curriculum development, faculty management, student engagement, and institutional alignment to advance the school's mission and reputation.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership & Vision

• Develop and implement the strategic vision and direction for the School of Architecture & Design.
• Align school initiatives with the university's mission and institutional goals.
• Foster a culture of innovation and excellence in architecture and design education.

Academic Program Management

• Oversee curriculum development and review to ensure academic quality and relevance.
• Establish and maintain accreditation standards and compliance.
• Approve new programs and courses aligned with market demand and educational best practices.
• Monitor student learning outcomes and academic performance across all programs.

Faculty Leadership & Development

• Recruit, hire, and retain high-quality faculty members.
• Support faculty professional development and research initiatives.
• Evaluate faculty performance and provide constructive feedback.
• Foster collaborative relationships among faculty and interdisciplinary partnerships.

Student Engagement & Support

• Advocate for student needs and academic success.
• Foster an engaging learning environment and student community within the school.
• Oversee student advising, mentorship, and career services.

Operations & Administration

• Manage school budget, resources, and financial planning.
• Oversee facilities, technology, and physical infrastructure.
• Ensure compliance with institutional policies and regulatory requirements.
• Manage administrative staff and support functions.

Stakeholder Engagement & Partnerships

• Build and maintain relationships with external partners, industry leaders, and alumni.
• Facilitate partnerships with professional organizations and accrediting bodies.
• Engage with the broader academic and professional community.
• Represent the school at university events and external forums.

Reporting & Governance

• Report to the Provost or designated senior academic officer.
• Participate in institutional governance and decision-making processes.
• Provide regular updates on school performance, initiatives, and outcomes.

Qualifications & Experience

• Terminal degree (PhD, DArch, or equivalent) in Architecture, Design, or a related discipline required.
• Minimum 5 years of leadership experience in higher education, preferably in architecture or design programs.
• Demonstrated success in academic program development and accreditation management.
• Record of faculty recruitment and team leadership in an academic setting.
