Role Overview

Datacenter Engineer (Saudi National) at DeepSource Technologies in Riyadh, KSA. This role is responsible for the creation, testing, and governance of runbooks—comprehensive documents that capture complex task activities including disaster recovery operations, application migrations, and datacenter modernization initiatives.

Role Purpose

Collect, create, test, and govern complex task activities into single runbook documents that contain all environment details, contact information, and required activities to achieve complex datacenter operations and transformation projects.

Key Responsibilities

Data Collection & Documentation

• Conduct interviews and data collection to inform runbook creation.
• Prepare migration strategies, migration plans, runbooks, and status reports.
• Develop comprehensive documentation capturing all environment details and contact information.

Runbook Development

• Create runbooks for disaster recovery activities including activation, dry testing, and drills.
• Create runbooks for application migration activities and datacenter modernization initiatives.
• Test runbooks to ensure accuracy and completeness before governance approval.

Discovery & Analysis

• Lead datacenter migration discovery and planning phases.
• Conduct workshops to gather requirements and validate migration approaches.
• Use automated discovery tools such as Device 42 and vRNI to support assessment activities.
• Apply data modeling and data visualization techniques to represent complex environments.

Governance & Stakeholder Management

• Establish governance requirements for runbook management and maintenance.
• Manage stakeholder relationships and negotiate priorities across teams.
• Present findings and recommendations to user groups and stakeholders.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent.
• Experience in Data Center Migration Discovery Phase, Data Center Migration Planning Phase, and Data Center Migration Execution.
• Experience conducting workshops and preparing migration strategies and plans.
• Experience delivering engagements under PRINCE2, PMP, or TOGAF frameworks (desirable).
• Data Engineering certificate(s) (preferred).

Skills & Competencies

• Understanding of cloud technologies and migration methodologies.
• Knowledge of virtualization platforms including vSphere, Hyper-V, and other platforms.
• Knowledge of containerization platforms including OpenShift Container Platform (OCP) and other platforms.
• Enterprise IT architecture knowledge including storage and backup configuration, replication options, OS deployment and management techniques, and network components and configuration.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills including data modeling and analysis.
• Automated discovery tool experience such as Device 42 and vRNI.
• IT service management knowledge and ITSM framework understanding.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.

• Problem-solving skills.
• Data modeling and data visualization.
• Strong stakeholder management and negotiation skills.
• Excellent documentation skills.

Additional Information

Certifications

• CCNA, Network Essentials, CompTIA Network+, or equivalent.
• ITIL V3 and/or V4 Foundation.
• Certification from one of the major cloud providers.
