Data Scientist - Open to all nationalities

Role Overview

Data Scientist at Ajman University, open to all nationalities. The role supports the Office of Vice-Chancellor for Institutional Planning and Effectiveness.

Role Purpose

The Data Scientist develops descriptive, predictive, and prescriptive models using machine learning algorithms, conducts statistical analyses to support decision-making for higher management, and provides data-driven recommendations to enhance academic quality, student success, and performance effectiveness across colleges and offices.

Key Responsibilities

Data Analysis & Engineering

• Collect, clean, and preprocess data for analysis.

Machine Learning & Statistical Modeling

• Develop predictive and prescriptive models using machine learning algorithms.
• Conduct statistical analyses to support decision-making and solve business problems.

Business Intelligence & Insights

• Analyze data to identify trends, patterns, and insights.
• Create data visualizations and dashboards to communicate findings effectively.
• Translate data insights into actionable recommendations for various stakeholders.

Reporting & Communication

• Prepare reports and presentations for management.
• Communicate findings and insights to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Organizational Improvement

• Take initiatives to enhance the effectiveness, efficiency, and performance of various units at Ajman University through in-depth data analysis.
• Support other team members as directed by the Vice-Chancellor for Institutional Planning and Effectiveness.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, or a related field required; Master's degree preferred.
• Minimum four years' experience as a data scientist or in a similar role.
• Strong programming skills in Python or R.
• Project management experience.

Skills & Competencies

• Proficiency in data analysis and machine learning libraries including Pandas, NumPy, scikit-learn, TensorFlow, and Colab.
• Proficiency in data visualization tools such as Matplotlib, Tableau, MS Power BI, or related tools.
• Familiarity with big data technologies including Hadoop and Spark.
• Advanced analytical skills.
• Problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
• Advanced communication skills.
• Advanced professional report writing skills.

Additional Information

• Work is typically performed in an office environment.
• No or minimal physical effort required.
• No or minimal exposure to physical risk.
• Position may entail work after duty hours, on weekends, holidays, and in emergencies; may be subject to on-call responsibilities.
• Reports to the Vice-Chancellor for Institutional Planning and Effectiveness.
• No supervisory responsibilities.
