Role Overview
BlackStone eIT is seeking a Data Analyst & Visualization Specialist to join the team. You will analyze complex datasets and create compelling visualizations that facilitate data-driven decision making, working closely with business units to transform data into actionable insights.
Role Purpose
Serve as the bridge between raw data and business insight. Collect, analyze, and visualize large datasets to identify trends and patterns; collaborate with stakeholders to understand analytical needs; and communicate findings effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences to support strategic decision making.
Key Responsibilities
Data Analysis
- Collect, analyze, and interpret large datasets to identify trends and patterns.
- Perform data cleansing and ensure data quality.
- Identify trends, anomalies, and insights across operational data (finance, HR, procurement, research portfolio).
- Answer ad hoc leadership questions that require deep data investigation.
- Conduct statistical analysis and data modeling.
Visualization & Dashboard Design
- Develop clear and insightful visualizations and dashboards using tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or similar.
- Define the right chart, metric, or narrative for each audience.
- Work with the Full Stack Engineer to implement dashboard views.
- Create Figma mockups for new reporting surfaces, including wireframes and visual specs before engineering build.
Reporting & KPI Management
- Generate regular and ad hoc reports to support business initiatives.
- Deliver recurring KPI reports, programme status summaries, budget variance analysis, and milestone tracking.
- Support KPI definition in collaboration with business owners to establish meaningful, measurable KPIs.
- Establish automated or semi-automated generation of recurring status reports and summaries.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and deliver relevant data solutions.
- Communicate findings and insights effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Professional Development
- Stay current with data analysis and visualization best practices and tools.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in data analysis and visualization.
Skills & Competencies
Technical Skills
- Advanced SQL: analytical queries, window functions, aggregations, cross-source joins.
- Data visualization: strong opinions on when to use charts versus tables versus narrative; experience with Recharts, D3, Tableau, Power BI, or Looker.
- Figma: wireframing and prototyping reporting surfaces.
- React and TypeScript: ability to build or modify dashboard components alongside the Full Stack Engineer.
- Python: data analysis, pandas, scripting for ad hoc analysis.
- Dimensional modeling and warehouse querying.
- Excel and Google Sheets: quick-turn analysis and ad hoc reporting.
- Business intelligence concepts: KPIs, OKRs, trend analysis, variance reporting, cohort analysis.

- Strong problem-solving and critical thinking abilities.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Attention to detail and a passion for data accuracy.
- Ability to translate complex data into understandable insights through visual storytelling.
