Role Overview
Customer Project Manager (f/m/d) for Gutor's UPS production site. Gutor is a leading international manufacturer of UPS systems for industrial applications with a global presence of over 600 employees in more than 30 countries.

Role Purpose
The Customer Project Manager manages customer projects from order through commissioning, ensuring delivery within timeline, scope, and cost. This role serves as the primary customer contact and point of escalation, leading project teams, monitoring financial progress, and actively contributing to the development of Gutor's Solution Center Project Management Team in an international industrial environment.
Key Responsibilities
Customer Management
- Act as the primary point of contact for project and technical communication with the customer during FAT (Factory Acceptance Test).
- Lead customer inspections including PIM, FAT, and Packing Inspection.
- Ensure that customer requests and questions are answered or transferred to the project team immediately.
- Travel for Kick Off Meetings (KOM) and progress meetings as required by project needs.
FAT Execution
- Ensure systems are prepared and ready for FAT upfront.
- Perform FAT with client on behalf of Outstation Project Managers.
- Direct Outstation Project Managers to initiate FAT planning on time.
- Identify and minimize non-conformance costs including Punch Items and Re-FAT.
- Ensure proper closing of all Punch Items.
- Authorize System Release once all pending items are closed.
Third-Party Supplier Management and Inspections
- Attend Factory Acceptance Tests of third-party suppliers at supplier sites on behalf of the Outstation team.
- Attend meetings and audits of third-party suppliers as required.
- Involve purchasing at an early stage of the project.
- Engage qualified subcontractors and partners in a timely manner.
- Lead commercial clarifications with support of purchasing and procurement teams.
- Monitor subcontractor and partner performance rigorously, conduct timely escalations for qualitative shortfalls, and initiate suitable corrective actions for any discrepancies.
Project Execution, Planning, Steering & Controlling
- Ensure Sales initiates handover to execution and participate in Customer and internal project Kick Off Meetings.
- Handle planning elements and milestones according to Customer Project Process in coordination with Project Planning, Operations, Engineering, and Customer Service teams.
- Identify and minimize non-conformance costs throughout the project.
- Lead and organize status meetings for regular project status reviews with the project team as required.
- Maintain close cooperation with the assigned Application Design Engineer.
- Monitor document submission status in cooperation with documentation teams.
- Perform ongoing monitoring of project status, early identification of discrepancies, and initiate targeted corrective measures.
- Perform project close review covering commercial aspects, lessons learned, and best practices.
- Ensure proper handover of the project to the Customer Service department.
Financial Management
- Lead the project within the defined budget and hold cost and margin responsibility.
- Initiate invoicing according to project progress and follow up on payment status.
- Review initial project calculation and highlight and clarify discrepancies.
- Participate in monthly project control reviews.
- Optimize project profitability.
- Review final project performance.
Risk, Opportunity & Claims Management
- Identify, assess, and monitor all risk factors and opportunities throughout the project life cycle.
- Assess contracts in terms of claim-relevant significance.
- Work closely with the Legal department for legal advice.
- Devise suitable strategies for risk mitigation including elimination and reduction.
- Inform customer, management, and project team about scope deviations.
- Identify and mitigate external claims by defining costs and argumentation, preparing claims, and negotiating change orders in close collaboration with purchasing and Sales/Tendering.
- Identify opportunities for additional business by defining costing, preparing offers, and negotiating change orders in close collaboration with purchasing and Sales/Tendering.
Leadership & Communication
- Participate in internal project reviews and management information meetings concerning project status.
- Ensure targeted and full communication within the project team and with stakeholders on an international basis.
- Establish key relationships within the factory.
- Communicate in an effective, situationally adapted manner with sensitivity and politeness.
- Support, train, and coach new team members based on established processes.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering.
- 5 to 7 years of experience in the electrical industry.
- 5 to 7 years of project management experience in systems and equipment business.
- Experience in the Oil & Gas industry.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong communication skills with situational adaptation, sensitivity, and politeness.
- Project Management skills including tools, methods, and knowledge of economics in project business.
- Fluent in English (written and oral).
- Ability to manage multiple projects in parallel.
