Role Overview
Cost Analyst at Emirates Flight Catering in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
Role Purpose
Drive cost efficiency and profitability across EKFC's operations by delivering rigorous financial analysis, maintaining costing systems, and providing actionable insights to production, commercial and supply chain stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Data Analysis & Cost Management
- Manage day-to-day data analysis for cost and manufacturing across various EKFC business units.
- Develop and analyze cost standards tracking systems, wastage analysis and major cost drivers.
- Monitor and highlight cost trends for stakeholder review.
- Collect, analyze and evaluate historical data to provide basis for assumptions, methodologies and estimate results.
- Apply sound reasoning and appropriate judgment in developing recommendations to support the section and business.
Reporting & Variance Analysis
- Support Costing Manager through proactive reporting analysis of variances and trends.
- Communicate issues and opportunities to various stakeholders for action to maximize revenue and profit.
- Develop and design costing methodology, cost standards and KPI reporting in collaboration with Costing Manager.
Systems & Database Management
- Manage updating and maintaining the costing database in the relevant ERP system.
- Train and oversee the setup of ERP cost systems based on company policies and procedures.
- Maintain advanced proficiency in JDE ERP platform or equivalent ERP system.
Cost Analysis & Decision Support
- Analyze changes in products, menus design, raw materials or production methods to determine effects on cost.
- Perform cost benchmarking analysis to support decision-making on insourcing or outsourcing of products.
- Maximize profitability through benchmarking recommendations.
Landed Cost & Procurement
- Set up, monitor and reconcile Landed Cost rulings for Food and Packing Foreign related purchases.
- Ensure appropriate allocation of costs across foreign procurement.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work with Production, Commercial and Supply Chain teams to drive efficiencies in production and procurement.
- Perform ad hoc tasks as assigned.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Commerce or equivalent.
- Minimum 5 years' experience in Finance area, preferably with background in production and/or manufacturing accounting.
- Minimum 2 years' experience in a similar capacity.
- Background in performing analytical tasks and corresponding report preparation.
- Process improvements experience.
Skills & Competencies
- Advanced Excel functionality and proficiency in MS Office applications.
- Advanced user of JDE ERP platform or familiarity with any ERP system.
- Analytical and problem-solving ability.
- Communicate effectively, verbally and in writing.
- Effectively interact with employees and stakeholders.
- Work independently and with a team in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
- Emphasis on accuracy and timeliness.
- Strong organizational skills.
