CONTRACTS ENGINEER

Role Overview

Contracts Engineer at NMDC Group. The role ensures the commercial success of projects through strong collaboration with delivery teams and protection of the organisation's contractual and commercial interests.

Role Purpose

To perform the commercial function of projects with deep technical and commercial knowledge, manage commercial risks, optimise cash flow, and ensure NMDC's position is protected through expert understanding of contractual, commercial, insurance and legal processes.

Key Responsibilities

Commercial Management

• Perform the commercial function of the project with strong interface with the delivery team to ensure project success.
• Ensure the achievement of NMDC D&M's projects' commercial objectives.
• Maximise cash flow by providing timely input into valuations, submission of invoices and receipt of payment.
• Prepare variations and claims and provide input into the preparation of disputes.

Risk Management

• Understand risks to the project and be aware of risk management, risk registers and contingencies in place to manage and minimise identified risks.

Compliance & Governance

• Comply fully with NMDC Commercial Procedures at site level.
• Develop an in-depth understanding of contractual, commercial, insurance and legal processes relating to contracts to ensure that the NMDC position is protected.
• Ensure that NMDC D&M position is protected through an in-depth understanding of contractual, commercial, insurance and legal processes relating to contracts.

Procurement & Contracting

• Provide input to ensure the timely procurement of sub-contractors.

Team Leadership & Development

• Demonstrate a high level of commercial and technical knowledge and work as part of the Project Team.
• Ensure that project teams have a good commercial understanding and focus, giving the appropriate motivation and leading by personal example.
• Promote knowledge sharing and learning and develop a team who are able to think outside the box.
