Consultant Thoracic Surgeon

Role Overview

Consultant Thoracic Surgeon at Astra ProMed in Abu Dhabi. Full-time position providing comprehensive surgical care for patients with complex thoracic conditions and contributing to high-quality, patient-centered clinical services.

Role Purpose

Evaluate, diagnose, and manage patients with thoracic surgical conditions, performing a broad range of thoracic surgical procedures and leading multidisciplinary care for benign and malignant diseases of the lungs, pleura, mediastinum, chest wall, and airway.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Care & Patient Management

• Evaluate, diagnose, and manage patients with thoracic surgical conditions.
• Manage patients with benign and malignant diseases of the lungs, pleura, mediastinum, chest wall, and airway.
• Perform pre-operative assessments and develop appropriate surgical treatment plans.
• Provide comprehensive post-operative care and monitor patient recovery.

Surgical Procedures

• Perform a broad range of thoracic surgical procedures according to qualifications and clinical privileges.
• Perform minimally invasive and/or open thoracic procedures within the scope of expertise.

Collaboration & Governance

• Work closely with pulmonologists, oncologists, radiologists, anesthesiologists, intensivists, and other multidisciplinary teams.
• Participate in multidisciplinary tumor boards and complex case discussions where applicable.
• Participate in quality improvement, patient safety, and clinical governance initiatives.

Documentation & Compliance

• Maintain accurate medical records and ensure compliance with clinical documentation standards.

Teaching & Leadership

• Provide supervision, guidance, and teaching to junior surgeons and medical staff.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of advances in thoracic surgery and evidence-based clinical practice.

Qualifications & Experience

• Medical degree from an accredited medical institution.
• Recognized postgraduate qualification in Thoracic Surgery, Cardiothoracic Surgery, or equivalent specialty qualification.
• Relevant post-specialization experience appropriate for Consultant level.
• Strong clinical and surgical experience in thoracic surgery.
• Current Good Standing Certificate and verifiable professional credentials.
• Eligibility for or a valid DOH Abu Dhabi Consultant licence.
