Role Overview

Consultant Physician-Orthopedics at Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City (SSMC). The role provides primary care for patients suffering from injuries and common illnesses, with specialization in orthopedics and related areas of medicine.

Role Purpose

To deliver compassionate, evidence-based medical care to patients presenting with injuries, illnesses, and disorders. The physician diagnoses conditions, designs and implements treatment plans, and coordinates care across the healthcare team to optimize patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

Patient Assessment and Diagnosis

• Examine patients and take comprehensive medical histories.
• Address patients' concerns and answer patients' questions.
• Diagnose and treat injuries, illnesses, and disorders.
• Order, perform, and interpret diagnostic tests.
• Explain diagnostic results to patients.

Treatment Planning and Delivery

• Recommend and design treatment plans.
• Prescribe medications or therapies.
• Explain medical procedures to patients.
• Counsel patients on diet, hygiene, preventative healthcare, and lifestyle changes.

Documentation and Coordination

• Update patients' charts and information to reflect current findings and treatments.
• Consult with other physicians and refer patients to specialists when necessary.
• Work with other healthcare staff, including nurses, assistants, and other physicians.

Compliance

• Comply with medical laws, including HIPAA.

Qualifications & Experience

• Medical degree and successful completion of a residency and internship.
• State license and certification to practice medicine.
• Knowledge and experience in diagnosing and treating a wide variety of illnesses.
