Role Overview
Consultant Pediatric Ophthalmologist at Astra ProMed, Dubai. Full-time position.
Role Purpose
Provide comprehensive ophthalmic care to infants, children, and adolescents, with a focus on the diagnosis and management of pediatric eye disorders and the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care.
Key Responsibilities
Diagnosis and Management
- Diagnose and manage pediatric ophthalmic conditions, including strabismus, amblyopia, refractive errors, congenital eye disorders, and pediatric cataracts.
- Manage complex pediatric eye conditions and develop individualized treatment plans.
- Conduct comprehensive eye examinations for infants, children, and adolescents.
Clinical Assessment and Investigation
- Perform and interpret pediatric ophthalmic assessments and diagnostic investigations.
Procedures and Surgical Intervention
- Perform appropriate pediatric ophthalmic procedures and surgeries within the scope of practice.
- Provide surgical and non-surgical management of strabismus and other pediatric eye disorders.
Stakeholder Management and Counseling
- Collaborate with pediatricians, neonatologists, neurologists, and other specialists when required.
- Counsel parents and caregivers regarding diagnosis, treatment options, and follow-up care.
Documentation, Compliance, and Professional Development
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation and comply with UAE healthcare regulations and facility policies.
- Participate in multidisciplinary clinical discussions, quality improvement initiatives, and teaching activities where applicable.
Qualifications & Experience
- Medical degree (MBBS, MD, or equivalent) from a recognized institution.
- Recognized postgraduate qualification in Ophthalmology.
- Additional fellowship or advanced training in Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus highly desirable.
- Eligible for or holding a valid DHA Consultant license/eligibility in the relevant specialty.
- Demonstrated experience in pediatric ophthalmology, including the management of complex cases.
