Consultant - Pediatric Gastroenterology

Role Overview

Consultant – Pediatric Gastroenterology at Sheikh Khalifa Medical City Ajman (SKMCA). The role provides comprehensive diagnostic, therapeutic, and preventive care for infants, children, and adolescents with gastrointestinal, hepatic, and nutritional disorders within a multidisciplinary team setting.

Role Purpose

Deliver high-quality, patient-centred care in accordance with international best practices to pediatric patients with gastrointestinal, liver, and nutritional disorders.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Assessment & Diagnosis

• Diagnose and manage a wide range of pediatric gastrointestinal, liver, and nutritional disorders
• Perform and interpret relevant diagnostic procedures, including endoscopy, biopsy, and imaging coordination

Treatment Planning & Management

• Develop and implement individualized treatment and follow-up plans
• Provide consultation services to inpatient and outpatient pediatric cases

Collaboration & Communication

• Collaborate with pediatricians, surgeons, dietitians, nurses, and allied health professionals
• Educate patients and families on disease management, nutrition, and preventive care

Governance & Compliance

• Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential medical records
• Adhere to hospital policies, ethical standards, and regulatory requirements

Quality & Development

• Participate in quality improvement initiatives, clinical audits, and continuing medical education

Qualifications & Experience

• Medical Degree (MBBS or equivalent)
• Completion of a recognized residency in Pediatric Gastroenterology
• Board Certification in Pediatric Gastroenterology
• Valid medical license to practice
• Minimum 5 years of experience in a similar role, preferably in a tertiary care hospital
