Role Overview
Consultant Paediatric Emergency Medicine position with SEHA. The role provides primary care for patients suffering from injuries and common illnesses in a pediatric emergency medicine setting.
Role Purpose
To deliver compassionate, high-quality emergency medical care to pediatric patients presenting with injuries and acute illnesses, applying specialized knowledge in emergency medicine and pediatrics to diagnose, treat, and stabilize patients effectively.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Diagnosis and Treatment
- Examine patients, take medical histories, and address patients' concerns and questions.
- Diagnose and treat injuries, illnesses, and disorders in the pediatric population.
- Order, perform, and interpret diagnostic tests and explain results to patients.
- Recommend and design treatment plans tailored to individual patient needs.
- Prescribe medications or therapies appropriate to the pediatric emergency setting.
Patient Education and Counseling
- Counsel patients and families on diet, hygiene, preventative healthcare, and lifestyle changes.
- Explain medical procedures to patients in clear, compassionate terms.
- Answer patients' questions and provide guidance on health management.
Documentation and Records Management
- Update patients' charts and information to reflect current findings and treatments.
- Maintain accurate and timely medical records.
Collaboration and Consultation
- Consult with other physicians and healthcare professionals.
- Refer patients to specialists when necessary.
- Work collaboratively with nurses, assistants, and other physicians.
Compliance and Standards
- Comply with medical laws, including HIPAA.
Qualifications & Experience
- Medical degree and successful completion of a residency and internship.
- State license and certification to practice medicine.
- Knowledge and experience in diagnosing and treating a wide variety of illnesses.
