Role Overview
Consultant - Neonatology at NMC Healthcare. The role is based in the United Arab Emirates and requires a qualified medical practitioner to deliver expert neonatal care and consultative services.
Role Purpose
Perform professional neonatal duties including in-patient care, daily clinical rounds, specialist consultations, and ongoing professional development to maintain current knowledge of neonatal intensive care techniques and procedures.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Care
- Make daily rounds for patients in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and normal newborn nursery.
- Perform general and special examinations and procedures covering the full scope of neonatology.
- Provide in-patient care to newborns.
- Attend difficult deliveries and cesarean section deliveries.
- Order laboratory examinations and X-rays.
- Determine diagnosis and prescribe nursing and dietary care as necessary.
- Order or apply preventive measures as required.
Consultative Services
- Serve as a consultant in neonatology providing consultative services to other Medical Services.
- Provide technical assistance with pediatric patients.
- Determine eligibility of neonatology admissions.
Professional Development
- Review journals, texts, and periodicals to keep current on latest techniques and procedures of neonatal intensive care.
- Continuously build and share knowledge to deliver expert service within own scope of work.
- Draw on expertise of others as needed and share knowledge.
Client and Stakeholder Engagement
- Identify and understand real needs and expectations of clients in a professional manner.
- Share client information with relevant team members.
- Respond to client complaints in a timely and effective manner.
- Provide feedback on progress to clients.
- Keep clients updated with relevant and accurate information.

Qualifications & Experience
- Qualified and licensed Medical Practitioner.
- At least 3–5 years' post-qualification experience at consultant level, independent of country.
- At least 1 year consultant-level experience from a Tier 1 country as specified by the UAE healthcare regulator.
- Basic medical degree and completion of a higher education programme (fellowship or diploma) recognized by the relevant UAE healthcare authority.
