Role Overview

Consultant Emergency Medicine position at Astra ProMed, Abu Dhabi. Full-time employment.

Role Purpose

Provide expert clinical assessment and management of patients presenting with acute and emergency medical conditions in a fast-paced emergency department, while leading a multidisciplinary team and maintaining high standards of patient care and safety.

Key Responsibilities

Patient Assessment & Management

• Provide expert assessment and management of patients presenting to the Emergency Department.
• Manage medical, surgical, trauma, and other acute emergency presentations.
• Ensure timely diagnosis, stabilization, treatment, and appropriate disposition of patients.
• Lead the management of critically ill and unstable patients.

Clinical Procedures & Resuscitation

• Perform emergency procedures and resuscitation as required.
• Manage critically ill patients and complex emergency presentations.

Collaboration & Coordination

• Coordinate with specialists, intensivists, surgeons, and other multidisciplinary teams.
• Participate in trauma and medical emergency response.

Team Leadership & Development

• Supervise and support junior physicians, residents, and emergency department staff.
• Contribute to education, training, and continuing medical education programs.

Governance & Quality

• Maintain accurate clinical documentation and ensure compliance with clinical and patient-safety standards.
• Participate in departmental quality improvement, clinical governance, and audit activities.
• Promote evidence-based emergency medicine practices and high standards of patient care.

Qualifications & Experience

• MBBS/MD or equivalent medical degree.
• Recognized postgraduate qualification in Emergency Medicine.
• Board certification or equivalent recognized specialist/consultant qualification.
• Minimum 5–10 years of post-specialization experience in Emergency Medicine.
• Strong experience in adult emergency care, acute medical emergencies, trauma, and resuscitation.
• Experience managing critically ill patients and complex emergency presentations.
• Eligible for DOH Consultant classification/license in Abu Dhabi.

Skills & Competencies

• Current BLS and ACLS certification.
• Relevant emergency and trauma certifications preferred.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Strong leadership skills.
• Sound decision-making ability.
