Consultant Breast Surgeon

Role Overview

Consultant Breast Surgeon at Astra ProMed, Dubai. Full-time position providing comprehensive surgical care for patients with benign and malignant breast conditions.

Role Purpose

To deliver expert surgical diagnosis and management of breast conditions, lead multidisciplinary cancer care, and provide compassionate patient counseling supported by advanced diagnostic and surgical resources.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Assessment & Diagnosis

• Diagnose and manage a broad range of benign and malignant breast conditions.
• Conduct comprehensive breast consultations and clinical examinations.
• Evaluate breast symptoms, abnormalities, and imaging findings, and coordinate appropriate diagnostic investigations.

Surgical Management

• Perform breast surgical procedures, including breast-conserving surgery, mastectomy, and other procedures within the scope of practice.
• Perform appropriate oncoplastic and reconstructive breast procedures where qualified.
• Provide surgical management of benign breast diseases, including breast lumps, abscesses, and other breast disorders.
• Conduct preoperative assessments and provide postoperative care and follow-up.

Multidisciplinary Care & Oncology

• Manage patients with breast cancer in collaboration with oncology and multidisciplinary teams.
• Collaborate with radiologists, pathologists, medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, plastic surgeons, and other specialists.
• Participate in multidisciplinary breast cancer meetings and contribute to individualized treatment planning.

Patient Communication & Governance

• Counsel patients and families regarding diagnosis, treatment options, surgical procedures, risks, and expected outcomes.
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation and comply with UAE healthcare regulations and facility policies.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives, clinical teaching, and professional development activities where applicable.

Qualifications & Experience

• Medical degree (MBBS, MD, or equivalent) from a recognized institution.
• Recognized postgraduate qualification in General Surgery, in accordance with applicable UAE licensing requirements.
• Additional fellowship or advanced training in Breast Surgery or Breast Surgical Oncology is highly desirable.
• Eligible for or holding a valid DHA Consultant license/eligibility in the relevant specialty.
• Demonstrated experience in breast surgery, including the management of benign and malignant breast conditions.
• Experience working within a multidisciplinary breast cancer care team.
