Role Overview
Construction Site Safety Officer position with MIRA Construction, based on-site at the Project Office and Construction Site.
Role Purpose
Implement and monitor Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) policies, plans, and legislative requirements across the construction site. Ensure contractor compliance with safety measures, investigate incidents, and drive continuous HSE performance improvement.
Key Responsibilities
HSE Policy & Performance
- Implement HSE Policy, HSE Plan, and HSE legislation and other requirements.
- Monitor HSE performance and HSE targets.
- Suggest measures for further improvement.
Contractor Management & Oversight
- Liaise with Safety Manager and Contractors for the improvement and implementation of Corporate HSE Management ethics.
- Monitor contractors to ensure the implementation of applicable Safety measures and best practices.
- Review and monitor Contractors' monthly HSE inspections and reports.
Safety Meetings & Documentation
- Conduct monthly Safety meetings.
- Set targets to achieve and resolve outstanding issues.
- Prepare and submit meeting minutes to all concerned for follow-up.
Safety Systems & Records Review
- Review Emergency Preparedness and response procedures.
- Review Permit to work system.
- Review HSE meetings, HSE statistics and records of contractors according to Company requirements.
Incident & Accident Management
- Review Incident and Accident investigation reports from contractors.
- Report and communicate learning points.
- Monitor immediate action and follow-up actions to minimise and prevent re-occurrence.
General Duties
- Perform other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.
Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum Diploma or B.Sc. or equivalent degree in environmental, loss prevention, or any relevant engineering disciplines from an accredited university.
- At least 3+ years of construction supervision experience working as a Safety Officer.
- Recent experience in construction supervision.
- Recognised Health and Safety education, SARS card (training in UAE is a plus), or NEBOSH or IOSH certificates.
- Trakhees card holder or desire to obtain it.
- Experience in UAE is preferable.
- Driving license is an advantage.
