CNC OPERATOR

Role Overview

CNC Operator at Burjline Builders. This is a hands-on machining role focused on setup, operation, and quality control of advanced multi-axis CNC equipment in a precision manufacturing environment.

Role Purpose

To operate, program, maintain, and optimize 3-axis, 4-axis, and 5-axis DMG MORI CNC machines while ensuring finished components meet strict tolerances and quality standards through skilled setup, process monitoring, and precision inspection.

Key Responsibilities

Machine Setup & Operation

• Setup, adjust, and operate 3-axis, 4-axis, or 5-axis DMG MORI CNC milling and turning machines.
• Load raw materials, install fixtures, dial in work offsets, and set up cutting tooling including end mills, drills, taps, and inserts.
• Perform dry runs, single-block execution, and first-piece inspections to verify setup before full production runs.

Programming & Control

• Read, interpret, and edit Siemens Sinumerik programs directly at the controller using G-code, M-code, or conversational programming in ShopMill and ShopTurn.
• Make parameter adjustments, tool length offsets, cutter compensation, and feed and speed tweaks as needed.

Quality Control & Inspection

• Read and interpret complex engineering blueprints, drawings, and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) callouts.
• Inspect finished parts using precision measuring instruments including micrometers, calipers, height gauges, bore gauges, and CMM outputs.
• Ensure components consistently meet tight tolerances of ±0.0005" or ±0.01 mm.

Maintenance & Troubleshooting

• Conduct daily and weekly preventive maintenance on DMG MORI machines including coolant levels, lubrication system, chip conveyor, and spindle checks.
• Diagnose operational issues, tool wear, and chatter; make real-time adjustments to cutting parameters.

Qualifications & Experience

• Minimum 3–5 years of hands-on experience operating CNC machines in a precision manufacturing environment.
• Demonstrated, recent experience running DMG MORI CNC machines such as DMU, CMX, NLX, NTX, or similar series.
• Proficiency in Siemens Sinumerik controllers including 840D, ONE, ShopMill, ShopTurn, and Operate.
• High School Diploma, GED, or Trade School Certificate / Vocational Diploma in Machine Tool Technology or Precision Machining.
• Advanced ability to read technical drawings, CAD prints, and GD&T symbols.
• Mastery in using hand measurement tools including micrometers, gauge blocks, and dial indicators.

Skills & Competencies

• Experience with CELOS user interface on DMG MORI machines.
• Knowledge of Fanuc or Heidenhain controls.
• Basic CAM software knowledge such as Mastercam, NX, or Esprit.
• Experience machining tough materials including Inconel, Titanium, Stainless Steel, and Tool Steels.
