CNC Maintenance Technician

Role Overview

CNC Maintenance Technician at NOV. This role is based on-site at a manufacturing facility and is critical to ensuring maximum uptime and supporting safe, efficient manufacturing operations.

Role Purpose

To troubleshoot, repair, and perform preventive maintenance on CNC machines and production equipment, minimizing downtime and ensuring safe, efficient manufacturing operations through effective root cause analysis and proactive maintenance practices.

Key Responsibilities

Maintenance & Repairs

• Perform routine and preventive maintenance on CNC machines and production equipment.
• Perform unscheduled maintenance and emergency repairs even after hours if necessary.
• Perform installation and upgrades to equipment and special projects as needed to increase machine efficiency and company productivity.
• Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
• Diagnose PLC and control system faults.
• Perform a wide variety of skilled mechanic duties to install, troubleshoot, repair, and modify mechanical equipment.
• Minimize downtime through effective root cause analysis.

Tools & Operations

• Use a wide variety of hand, power, and machine tools to perform assignments.
• Apply working knowledge and skills to perform a defined set of analytical and operational processes.
• Work within standard operating procedures and methods.
• Apply experience and skills to complete assigned work within own area of expertise.

Inventory & Logistics

• Maintain inventory of maintenance materials and supplies to assure downtime is minimized due to lack of parts.

Documentation & Inspection

• Complete and document maintenance activities associated with predictive and corrective maintenance activities in a computerized maintenance database.
• Conduct regular inspections of the facilities to detect and resolve problems.

Health, Safety & Environment

• Adhere to all internal and external HSE policies and procedures provided by local authorities and NOV.
• Report all unsafe and/or hazardous acts or conditions to the HSE department.
• Follow safety standards and maintain maintenance records.
• Safety-focused and detail-oriented approach to all work.

Communication & Collaboration

• Report to the maintenance manager to communicate with the OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) for troubleshooting and all maintenance activities.
• Understand how the team integrates with others to accomplish team objectives.
• Communicate moderately complex technical information within the team.
• Demonstrate strong inter-personal and communication skills.

General

• Complete any task assigned by the line manager.

Qualifications & Experience

• Diploma in Electromechanics Technology.
• 5+ years of Equipment Maintenance and CNC machine services.
• Strong electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to read schematics and technical drawings.
• Experience with multi-axis CNC machines is a plus.

Skills & Competencies

• Good understanding of the technical features of CNC machines controls, electrical and mechanical systems.
• Troubleshooting of equipment maintenance and CNC machine services.
• Diagnose PLC and control system faults, with preference for Fanuc or Siemens systems.
• Strong inter-personal and communication skills.
• Ability to recognize and solve typical problems in own work area by evaluating and selecting solutions from established operating procedures and/or analytical and technical methods.
• Ability to work with a moderate degree of supervision.
• No supervisory responsibilities; manages own workload.
• Impacts the quality of own work and team.
• Broadened technical skills in analytical and technical methods or operational processes to perform a defined array of activities.

Additional Information

• This role may require working after hours and emergency repairs as necessary to support production uptime.
